Its coconut husk. It seems to keep the moisture levels up pretty good. I have been experimenting with all of my asian rats. Aspen seems to dry for them. I am also using coconut that is ground finer than whay is shown above. I have been putting hides on each end, and keeping one end very moist, and thats where they choose to be (the moist side).

The beauties are not bad. They were flighty at first. Sometimes they act up and I just leave them be during those times. One has twice the appetite of the other, and it close to 2 ft longer, or close to it. The green meanie is just that. He will tolerate me misting him up close, but not much more.
