Looks like that Kimmie that I thought was gravid...they are hard to tell sometimes they are pancakes...has gone under.

She has been digging this whole past week. Test burrows they are known as. Trying to find a good spot to lay her eggs. VERY picky these guys are.

By some miracle she choose the nest box I provided for her. She has dug a deep burrow and backed in. Thats usually the trick when they back in. I caught just a glimpse of her nose before she disappeared. She should be down there 24-48 hours and then we'll see.

Finger crossed, might have some Kimmie eggs. Skittledeedoo!!!!:wamma:

Oops sorry for those who dont know what a "Kimmie" is its a Kimberly rock monitor, Varanus glauerti. Otherwise known as Varanus biggest pain in the butt on four legs. Thats my own classification :cool:

I can take pics of the eggs when shes done. But right now she is underground and I cant disturb her. All you would see is a pic of a box of dirt :)

From what Ive seen personally and read about they have relatively small clutches. So far Ive had a clutch of 3 and 5. Ive read about as many as 10. So figure now that she is a little older/bigger she might do 6-8 realitically. But could be less, cant really say.

It wont be the first time. The kimmies have me stumped. I missed a small clutch this summer. When I was cleaning the cage I found 3 deflated eggs. Damn pancake lizards. Im workin' on it though. I WILL produce Kimmies. Or die trying!!!

Dont feel bad man.I lost mine due to the female scattering them across the cage and the male eating them.

She may very well have decided for whatever reason she doesnt like that spot. Its just unusual. When they go down for a day or two they usually leave me a present. But not this time. Nothing under my tree :(
