What's up? You know what i mean? some eggs are just looking like they almost have chicken pocks or something and others are "normal".
It seems to be entire clutches.
Example, http://www.reptileradio.net/reptileradio/showthread.php?t=19186
that's a "pock" clutch.
Example, http://www.reptileradio.net/reptileradio/showthread.php?t=19113
that's a "normal clutch.
Personally, i don't recall ever having a "pock" clutch, but a buddy of mine, lots of clutches he has are like that.
Just wondering (for those of you that are in the xx digits of clutches per year....) what you think or what's up with that.

I've seen it more often with the rock python group, but we've had a few clutches with it. More or less, I think it has something to do with calcification of the eggs. I think it's more or less how the female processes calcium while the eggs/follicles are developing. It may play part to temperatures and how well/easily the female is able to digest prey while building, but I think the major contributors are temperatures, and how earlier on they are in their reproductive life.
Those spots are, for the most part, little under-calcified areas scattered across the egg; kind of like little windows. I've seen a lot of first, second, and 3rd time producing females throw them much more commonly than experienced, well developed females.
It'd be interesting to find out what exactly causes it. It doesn't cause any problems from what I've seen. More or less, they're just like a clean, soft, pearly white egg... just with little blemishes.

I've had both and really didn't notice anything abnormal about the girls...so far this year just pearly whites :dunno:
I have a clutch ready to cut that are like that. I'll see if the shell is any thicker then a normal egg.

Someone mentioned that it could be that the girl keeps them in her a little longer than normal. That rings true with this clutch. It's her first clutch and she was 40 days or so POS.
BTW, I got that yucky egg on the right to dry up and looks like it will hatch.

None of our "tater" eggs are stuck together either.
We get most of ours when the girl doesn't wrap around them very well, so I was thinking it's a humidity issue. :dunno:

huh... I had 3 tater clutches this year-- none stuck together either.... I lost all but one egg out of my first batch which is due to hatch in a week.... but the other 2 clutches seem fine.

Glad to hear that. My last clutch of the year is in the incubator and the only one that came out like that. BTW, they were not stuck together either.
