Does anyone keep these guys? I think they are pretty cool, but want some first hand insight.

Gary tokaysunlimited 05-23-2010, 06:42 PM Does anyone keep these guys? I think they are pretty cool, but want some first hand insight. Gary Used to breed them man. If your looking for morphs like sunsets etc. Then Andrew seike is the man. Sara 05-23-2010, 06:45 PM Kare keeps em too.. Wait, no, Kare has ONE, it's a pet and she doesn't want to breed them, she just enjoys hers. I have them at the shop, was there any specific kinds of questions about them? tokaysunlimited 05-23-2010, 06:47 PM Would like to add that alot of CBB ones are muddy in terms of true local. JenH 05-23-2010, 06:47 PM We have one as a pet. They are fun, always ready to hang out. There is a ton of great information here http://bluetongueskinks.net/blue.htm tokaysunlimited 05-23-2010, 06:51 PM Ohhhh and boy can they sh*t on you...lmfao:lmao: I am sure Sara can back me on that one. There like a psyhco with a loaded shotgun YEAH they can!!:lmao::lmao::lmao::cheers: JenH 05-23-2010, 06:59 PM Lol.. But their pee is just water, so at least one by-product isn't a big deal... Jeepguy 05-23-2010, 07:28 PM Thank you for ALL the great info. Like poop. :machinegun::machinegun: I have read that the northerns are the best way to go. The husbandry doesn't seem like anything special as far as other stuff. I just really love their disproportionate look. I want a herp pet instead of project and these guys seem cool. Gary Sara 05-23-2010, 09:17 PM They are an easy one for a pet, and are fun to watch! I really like the omnivore aspect, as greens and veggies are easy to pick up if you are out of worms and what-not. Sputnik 05-23-2010, 10:17 PM Used to find em all over the place, usually early morning under corrugated sheets of iron would be a typical place.... even wild ones tame down pretty quick. My parents place where I grew up had one we called Threelegs, for obvious reasons.... you'd see him around the garden areas.... they love snails! The babies are very cool, great animals! kare 05-23-2010, 10:39 PM http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w267/kareo/Blue%20Tongue%20Skink/P5050121.jpg This is my pet skink, Tilly. She is purely a pet. Has a stubbed tail from when she was a baby and she did hurt her mouth chasing a dubia a few weeks ago. She's going to be fine. Still loves to waddle/run after her roaches. She also enjoys a mix of greens with some cat food mixed in and a few pieces of fruit. Please note she has a pastel purple leash and when on she thinks she should be moving, not taking pics....she gets a bit pissy when she doesn't get her own way. :lmao::lmao: Jeepguy 05-23-2010, 10:47 PM Very cute. How can't you want one? Gary Mrs. Sputnik 05-23-2010, 10:51 PM Loved ours when we had them |
