Providing you do everything in your power to make them a reality. That is what I accomplished earlier this year. I have wanted to photograph wolves as far back as I can remember... and I dont mean in a zoo either. My dad got me started in photography when I was real young and I got my first SLR at 14... and I have always loved wolves.... so it just made sense to set a goal of photographing them.

I had a 9 day trip photographing wolves back in March... it was a wonderful experience and worth every dime I had to spend to make my dream a reality (even if I did go deeeeeeper in debt). Now time for me to shut up and provide some photos :)

Excellent shots! I love wolves too. Used to volunteer at a place called Wolf Park. Hanging out in the baby pen was one thing but being up close with the big guys was incredible. An experience I'll never forget.

That last picture is my favorite, you can feel the tension between the two wolves.

I used to camp in Northern Minnesota all the time where there are still good numbers of wild wolves, and let me tell you, nothing cooler or more eerie than listening to wolves howl at sundown. Only ever caught a glimpse of a wild wolf though.

Be careful of what you wish for.... I brought home over 6000 (thats right 6k) images to process... and a very large number of them were of the wolves. When shooting wildlife... I keep my camera on burst... and it will rattle off 3 frames per sec. Unfortunately... I dont have them all processed yet.

Very cool, we all have our dreams.... nothing like seeing them happen! :yessir:

It has only taken me 20+ years.... but Im glad it happend. Now I have to come up with another dream..... ooooh ooooh I know...... do it all over again.

Excellent shots! I love wolves too. Used to volunteer at a place called Wolf Park. Hanging out in the baby pen was one thing but being up close with the big guys was incredible. An experience I'll never forget.

I wont soon forget it either..... trust me.

Wow great pics Kevin, had to be a blast to go see them!

Yeah.... and then some. That first night when they started howling.... I had to sit down.... my feet just couldnt support me anymore. I have waited a very very very long time to hear that in person. I am just not good enough with the english language to effectivly relay what I felt. Im too much of a redneck... and redneck words just wont cut it for this. :)

That last one is the money shot!! Looks like it was quite an experience!!

It was most definately an experience... and I have quite a few in that "money shot" experience.... and some are a bit more graphic than that.

awww shucks... your gonna make me blush.

yeah... at first I forgot to bush the damn button... I was enthrawled with what was happening before my eyes.

For those of us that really love our wolves... you better believe that howl will stop you in your tracks. I just wanted to sit there and listen. I just dont have the words to describe it.

Thanks to all the comments and for looking... One thing I have learned over the years... the smaller you are... the less the animals fear. So if you are on your belly... chances are you will get a whole lot closer.. than if you are walking up.

Nice job achieving a life long goal. That is what life is all about, not only setting goals but taking the measures that are necessary to accomplish them.

Man those are some truly wicked shots of some even more wicked beasts. Where do you think the meaning of phrase “Top Dog” comes from? Seems pretty evident in that last image..
