I am a sucker for a beautiful snake and a sap when it comes to less than healthy snakes.
A friend of mine that has a reptile shop had a blood project going with a friend. The snakes were with the friend. After the guy and his girlfriend split he lost some interest I guess.
He called and told my friend that he needed to come and get his bloods and that one might have an RI.
She is a beautiful young adult red blood.
But she does have a cold or RI.
So of course I had to have her. Beautiful and I needed to help her. Lol
She has had two rounds of baytril, the hot spot is 94-95 and she eats f/t rats like a champ.
Any other tips to help her get better quicker?

I am new to keeping bloods and have never had any issues with RIs in any of my reptiles. With that said I think the hotspot is kinda high. But like I said I am not an expert on bloods by any means. Hopefully someone else will chime in. Good luck and I hope she pulls through.

Yeah, I have never kept a hot spot this high but the vet said to bump it up so I am trying it.
I have kept snakes for over 20 years and this is my first RI to deal with.
This is my first blood to deal with as well though.
I have always kept Burms, retics and balls.

Jsut make sure there is a gradient and she can get away from the high temps if she chooses. RIs suck....

Should have gotten a culture and sensitivity test done, Baytril is hard on Bloods skin, as most other reptiles.

Hit it hard and hit it quick, RI's in Bloods SUCK, and are TOUGH to fight.

I'd keep her nice and humid, 70% humidity and get the ambients up to 84 or so and a hot spot of 90, healthy or sick, a 95 hot spot for a Blood is too high IMO.

My advice.....

Get a culture and sensitivity test done, get her on the right meds, and get it over with.
