Plain ol' red tail boa. Has been eating fine. No mites or RI. Just shed and his throat is swelled up HUGE.
I went to feed him tonight, as I was throwing the rat in, he came to the front of the cage to get it and his throat is all swelled up. Just behind the head on the lower part.
If anyone works with emeralds- they blow their throats out when they are handled, but it doesn't stay this way.
He grabbed the rat before I could change my mind and examine him.

He is fed live but I am not seeing any bite marks or wounds on him.

Any ideas on what this could be??

I dont remember where I read it but I heard about something very similar to what you are going through and what happened was the snake got a scratch on the inside of its throat from the feeder and it got infected i believe it was cleared up with a trip to the vet and some antibiotics I would make an appoint with my vet ASAP hope it is nothing serious
