Varanus: Well, my favorite herps are varanids. So....ya know.

99: When I tried to set up a hotmail acct using varanus it was taken. So I added the 99 just so I could set the acct up. Then when I joined a forum I figured it would be nice to have my email and username match so I stuck with it. Now I use this on a couple forums and Ive grown accustomed to it.

I am pretty boring too.... norsmis = Ron Sims backwards.... I know, I know. How unoriginal can you get. I have been using this username on all the forums I have been on for years so everybody knows me by it....

I don't think I need to explain mine. :lol: But as a bonus for you all -- no my first name is just Tama, not short for anything, no hidden 'r's' anywhere. Just Tama. A combination my folks made when choosing between Tammy and Tana.

Mine is kind of weird but I'm a literature junkie (i've been reading full books since I was 4 years old) and one of my favorite series growing up (well still is) was the Lord of the Rings. I had to make a username for something and I hate using numbers so I found an obscure elven character (only mentioned once in the LOTR and he's mentioned a couple times in the Simarillion) and that's where I got it from lol.

I work with African house snakes, and their taxonomic name is Lamprophis.

From Latin to English, that translates:

lampro = shiny, shining
ophi, ophis = snake

Sooo.....hence, "Shining Snakes"

Well this sn is pretty easy - it's the name of the business (our last name plus the spin on the word "Critters" to look cool)
For years, before we did this as a business, I went by the sn "GottaLuvHerps"...mainly because, well, you DO!

Well mine came to me years ago when i was an aol junkie, it was given to me as a handle after i started coding programs for aol,aim and yahoo. i then begin to program small programs used in chatrooms like punters,faders,mp3 players. then i got into cracking and phishing so i began to build pass word crackers,screen name collectors and a few other little things such as spamming programs lol. then i growed up one day and figured that was for teenagers and i was now 21 so it was time to move along and do something useful instead of destructive so i got into paint shop pro and photoshop, now i am venturing into cinema4d and a couple of other programs. to make it short and sweet my screen name is the handle i went by on aol as a programmer.

I'm told it all started with a Rocky and Bullwinkle cartoon.

First part of mine is my name(John) the S is for my last name (St John) and the rest was some random numbers that got stuck on it.

Pretty simple Kare is the short version of Karen (In my family, Albert is Al, Chester is Chet , Karen is Kare and David is Dave - all is well when you are called by the short name, be wary if your FULL name comes out and if Mom calls you by your first and middle name...RUN FOR THE HILLS BEFORE SHE CAN CATCH YA!:lol:

The princess part was just kind of an inside joke with myself... One of my coworkers thinks she's the princess of the world or something so I decided I wanted to be princess of SOMETHING! So pythons it was! Pretty cheesy but whatev! It works!

Well mine started out a long time ago in a land far away.

When i was 23 and young dumb full of...vinegar I was a paratrooper in Alaska.

Our squad came up with something to call us instead of 2nd squad so we came up with earthpigs....dual refrence one for a character in a comic bok or something called cerebus....and we liked to call our 60's/240B pigs. so earthpig just sounded cool. added my age 23 to it for when i signed up my yahoo account and has been that ever since...im now 32 so lasted awhile.

you must be pretty bright to be a bowfisher, i never tried it, but i understand there are all kinds of light, deflection, refraction, and other mental gymnastics calculations required to be successful at it.
