View Full Version : I just received an infraction.....
MikeCurtin 06-23-2010, 03:30 PM ....over at Fauna! :lmao: It appears I was a little too harsh on a scumbag flipper on the BOI.....hey, cool, I can say that here! :wamma::wamma:
Dear MikeCurtin,
You have received an infraction at FaunaClassifieds.
Reason: Borderline abusive post
-------
Mike,
It may have been posted while you were taking a break from the place, but the following should pretty well explain the infraction (it was made in the thread reviewing recent changes to the infraction system): http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/foru...94&postcount=4
-------
This infraction is worth 2 point(s) and may result in restricted access until it expires. Serious infractions will never expire.

Not a snake guy? From his myspace bmwracer, he has pics of young Balls and couple boas, along with many monitors and other lizards. One pic has a caption for baby balls $60 each, so he probably is selling reptiles. I saved a couple pics in case they need shown. Several things I saw I did not like.

The "borderline abusive" post in question: :lmao:
Aaah, great....he's not just a scumbag flipper, but he's a scumbag flipper that is likely "releasing" snakes he removes to suitable "area's" via the internet.
All the best,

MagickalMorphs 06-23-2010, 03:38 PM Sounds like you've got someone gunning for you, too. Apparently what you can get away with depends on who you're friends with. Goodness, after they ban all of us decent folk, all that is going to be left are the people who never even talk about their reptiles. (If they even have any) :dunno: Ah well, least we got BLBC.

bwt501 06-23-2010, 05:26 PM LOL. I just got a 4 point infraction( personal attack on another member) the other day for calling some mope a bottomfeeder for pawning off some salamanders as captive bred that were obviously WC from his backyard. I love stirring the shit over there sometimes just to get a rise out of them.
HAHAHAHAHA thats so rediculous! I guess calling it like ya see it is bad mojo over on fauna.
xanaxez 06-23-2010, 06:52 PM Lmao way to go Mike... you're the man . Fauna has been a joke for a while now.
norsmis 06-23-2010, 07:26 PM Mike, it is known you hang your hat here and you know how the person running the show feels about us. DOnt expect a red carpet welcome from them...... :D
JChandler 06-23-2010, 07:35 PM To funny man, sorry to see it getting that bad...

That was my thought. Never been there except when links are posted to it here.
MikeCurtin 06-23-2010, 08:25 PM I really don't think Harald wanted to give me the infraction, as he was pretty gentle about it. I did, however, go back and take a look at the infraction system.
The automatic bans are still in place, but the tolerances have been reduced a bit (partially due to the adding of the one year ban to the roster, partly due to the number of people just flat out ignoring their infractions and temporary bans). The 3 day still kicks in at 12 pts, the 30 day now hits at 18 pts, the one year ban at 24 pts, and the permanent ban at 36 pts. Basically, the point being made is that if a person comes back from a ban & continues to create issues, that person will be bumped to a longer ban more quickly. In other words, if you can't follow the rules, we don't want you here.
I can have plenty of fun abusing the scumbag flippers (in a borderline way, of course) before I even get a 3 day vacation....:wamma: I just may, in fact, just so I have a reason to resurrect the "Ever been banned from a herp forum?" thread! :lmao:

Mike you rascal you . Guys don't EVER give me the power to ban anybody in here. They'd NEVER git to 36 days before I had em out permanently. :D

Dark Wing Exotics 06-27-2010, 10:42 PM You should just go back on and tell them were to stick it. I saw no infraction they all must be on crack.
MikeCurtin 07-01-2010, 07:58 PM I still enjoy cruising Fauna here and there, and I advertise some of my animals there, so no point in burning bridges or anything. I do think the whole kinder, gentler BOI has just brought out all the inept newbies who have no idea what they're doing, and are somehow trying to fill the void that Chuck Kimmel left.
I gave her a little ribbing.... I guess I'm just a nobody not worth the infraction :lmao::lmao:

Eh....it happens. What's funny is that since my infraction, I've eased up on my filter a little just to see if I'd earn myself another. Every time I go off on someone, though, everyone seems to agree with me and back me up. I think I've gotten more good karma shooting for infractions than I have being nice! :lmao:

Otter_23 08-09-2010, 08:41 PM There were a lot of good ones back in the day including Wes (love him or hate him he made the BOI entertaining). Now it seems you get the know it all breeders who have been around a whopping 2 years and love to stick their nose in every thread. They remind me of premed/psychology students who start to diagnose everyone with their two years in college and little of real experience.
MikeCurtin 08-10-2010, 04:46 PM I just sent Rich a PM asking it if it would be OK to reference the USARK auction in my signature to help promote it. He very firmly said I could not make any reference to RR in any way....insecurity issues, ya think?

He is obviously NOT willing to help the reptile community's fight against animal rights - he is acting like a petty child. This isn't about fauna, RR or the BLBC or any other forum - this is about helping USARK to protect all of our rights - sad he is too immature to understand this.

Whats really sad is the man is wealthy because of this industry and as soon as he is done with it, he turns his back on it. I say screw Rich. He wants to be a petulant 2 year old, let him. I am sure if he is feeling any guilt he will just take a ride in his Corvette that he bought with money made by selling snakes to make himself feel better....
MikeCurtin 09-14-2010, 01:54 PM So, I just received a PM from one of the mods notifying me of the new policy. Rich is now requiring EVERYONE to post their exact city and state in their profile. Does anyone else not want thousands of people to know what small town they keep their very nice collection in? :dunno:
I'm seeing fewer and fewer reasons for hanging around Fauna every day.
MikeCurtin 09-14-2010, 01:59 PM Here's the PM from Nick Hrabowski:
Hi Mike,
Rich put into play a new policy that requires everyone to have their complete location (city and state) listed within their profile field.
The following is the most recent thread which talks about why this is now a site-wide policy & why the information must be shown in the Location Field...
http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/foru...d.php?t=197754
If you could please edit your profile, we'd appreciate it.
Thanks,
Nick

My response:
Hi, Nick -
Because I keep my collection at my house, I will respectfully decline to do so. I really don't want countless people to know the exact city in which I reside. It is a small town, and I wouldn't be difficult to track down.
I'm not trying to be difficult, but we hear about thefts in this hobby on a fairly regular basis. I value the safely of my family and collection too much to post this information publicly. I do not have a huge collection, but the animals I have are high end and of great value to me.
Regards,
Mike Curtin
So, now we'll see what happens....not really that important to me in the grand scheme of things.
Unreal... I wouldn't put that up there either!!

Bro, he is a dictator and loves being able to control every aspect of people there. He can say what he wants but that is what it boils down to. Personally, I think getting banned from the place was the best thing for me.

How could they even verify that? :dunno:
norsmis 09-15-2010, 08:53 PM I would put down I live in Aholeville, USA. :D
Sputnik 09-15-2010, 08:54 PM Unreal... I wouldn't put that up there either!!
Neither would I - it's no one's business really.... That would make it real easy for any thief/scammer/lowlife or whatever you wanna call em to look up where you live.... the question is, why would you require it in the first place? Sites like fauna have gotten by without it for how long now, and suddenly it's a site wide requirement?
snakewrangler 09-15-2010, 09:05 PM How could they even verify that? :dunno:
I think I read that the mods are going to look at what you put as your location and match it against where your IP traces back to...crazy...
Wild Bill 09-15-2010, 09:08 PM I think I read that the mods are going to look at what you put as your location and match it against where your IP traces back to...crazy...
It's not that easy though......so they are going to do traces on 1000's of members? I highly doubt it.......
norsmis 09-15-2010, 09:10 PM It's not that easy though......so they are going to do traces on 1000's of members? I highly doubt it.......
It would take them a year to with 10 mods working 8 hours a day to do that......
snakewrangler 09-16-2010, 05:13 AM This is what Rich says...
"Nope, that's not how it goes. Their IP addresses don't match the location they offer, and at registration they simply get rejected. There are some geographical locations that I just reject out of hand, even if they tell me they are from Nigeria or China, for instance. This can also be checked after the fact if they registered before I got strict about this requirement. With the IP address verification, I do have to give some wiggle room, because not all ISPs are going to be in the same town that someone resides or does business in. But I try to make reasonable decisions about what is credible."
MikeCurtin 09-16-2010, 12:33 PM It's supposed to protect buyers....(read: give buyers a false sense of security while making it easier for thieves and scammers to track down sellers' geographic location).
Laura Fopiano 09-22-2010, 02:53 PM Wow, I've had the same location on my profile since I started posting there as a reuglar. I'm not really ok with giving out my home location....I thought that's what the BOI was there for in the first place? To protect both buyer and seller???
MikeCurtin 09-22-2010, 03:03 PM Wow, I've had the same location on my profile since I started posting there as a reuglar. I'm not really ok with giving out my home location....I thought that's what the BOI was there for in the first place? To protect both buyer and seller???
