How many of you practice egg cutting?

When I first started breeding every one was all "they need to hatch within 36 hours of each other." I bought into the hype, and started cutting tricolor eggs 36 hours after the first pipped. I was finding weak babies that were not colored up. So I quite cutting and learned a very valuable lesson. Let me give you some numbers I have seen over the last year.

Clutch 1
First egg day 80 of incubation.
Last egg hatched (on its own) at day 104

Clutch 2
First egg day 79
Last egg day 87

Clutch 3
First egg day 82
Last egg day 99

Just a sampling of some of my clutchs that prove the old hype wrong.

Food for thought, why do you cut?

Don't have hoggies.... so no cutting here, but it's interesting the duration some of those eggs went....

Forget the hype, nothing beats learning new things yourself. If we all followed hype, we'd learn nothing outside of it....

Yea I cut all Bp eggs.. I just can't wait it out. Incubating at 89 I try to cut at 50days..

I cut at day 30. Cant help myself. Till the maggots show up!! Then I get all scared and call Phil...:master:

I cut and I don't cut. Not cutting is actually more fun IMO...

Crack, I have had to crack. I had some Tortoise eggs that started hatching and some of the other were not, so I waited about 4 days and started cracking and lost one and the others made it. I think I lost 2 in the clutch of 20 do to dead in the shell.
