It's been a while since I had a feeding accident. You know you do everything possible to make feedings safe and enjoyable for your babies, ya feed them f/t rats, of appropriate proportion, at just the right intervals, go out of your way to choose a color that they like, etc. -- and then one night "BAM" -- idiot tags himself.

I waited for 10 minutes for him to get himself loose before heading in with the tweezers -- sucker wouldn't let go of the rat the whole time - you should have seen the look on hubby's face when he walked into the snake room and saw me rendering aid to the snake with a rat hanging from his tail. Simply precious.

Snake is fine rat is digesting.

congrats on rescueing him from himself lol i have a carpet python that was doing that except she was always trying to eat the mouse and her back. she didnt really know how to eat and she was a year old lol i got her and guy said shes a power house eater then turns out shes didnt even know how to eat a mouse. so long story short i got her straightend out but if i feed her mice she still does it but in my opion shes rather small for small rats but to big for rat pups lol so i tried her on small rats and she got it down without trying to eat her back because she never wants to losen up on the rat she just trys to eat everything in her way lol

Tosha, I don't know if you remember the retics I was baby sitting but one or theother of them would do that almost every feeding. They smelled rat on themselves or each other and the insanity would begin.

Lol nice, the little guy was just hungry and didn't care who got in his way..... Even himself :D

I have had them grab the tongs, newspaper, and once the waterbowl but never themself. He had to be thinking "FOOD!!! OOOWWWW!!! FOOD!!!!!! OOWWWWW!!!! FOOD!!! OWWWWW!"

As pretty as Ball pythons are, they are some of the stupidest snakes around! It's a wonder they even survive in the wild. Don't EVER use those plastic deli "water bowls" with the lids...stupid balls will drown themselves...even with the hole in the lid right there, upright!! I learned the hard way and now have all my water bowls lidless....so they can flip them...LOL!

That's so horrible. I feel bad, but I couldn't stop laughing at the other comments.

I've never had one latch on to itself but I have ha some pretty intense misses! Ya know slam the tub or water bowl, the ocassional near miss to the face!
