Ok so I was just browsing around the KS ads and came across this one:

http://market.kingsnake.com/detail.php?cat=32&de=645760

About halfway down the page is a listing for

100% Double Het Caramel Snows (Jolliff line)

So just wondering, has this been produced yet by anybody???? I don't recall ever hearing about it before. Seems like it would be a really interesting looking snake but with caramels being T+ albinos (do I have the term correct?) and not like a typical albino with the lack of melanin what do you guys think a caramel snow would look like? I tend to think it would look more like a normal axanthic, maybe more brown? I'm sure I'm wrong though :D

See, this is the kind of thing that gets my gears turning when I hear about something new. I'm sure somebody in the BLBC has heard of it before!

I'm thinking it would look axanthic, except the black would be the caramel color. Kinda interesting looking in my mind at least. I have not heard of anyone producing one, either. Doesn't mean it hasn't been done, but I haven't heard of it it.

Yeah, that's kind of what I was thinking...... But, see now I'm thinking.... When you look at a caramel they don't really have any black on them at all so the caramel gene must, like normal albinism, remove the melanin. So then you've also got the axanthic gene in there which removes all of the browns and yellows....... So IDK I think it could still be an all white snake just with a caramels eyes instead of pink eyes?

The reason I think it will look like I already mentioned is: The caramel is a type of albinism where the production of melanin is screwy. It still produces some, but it is not complete. So, it technically isn't yellow pigment, it is faulty black pigment. It would still be interesting to see how it works out. It may do what you say, but I have a feeling it will look more like an axanthic with caramel where the black would be. It would be interesting to see a lavender snow too.

I think it could be cool but I don't think it will be anywhere close to white? I know there are DH Lavender Snows out there so possibly time will tell........

Joliff likely is referring to the Axanthic being a Joliff Line axanthic.

I am in agreement with lucid on how and why it will look like axanthic with the caramel black
