So I'm to the point that I go through about 1k of crickets every 2 weeks-- no big deal... I added some crix eaters and I order a lot of bugs.... well, between dumping the awkward box of bugs into the tank, and then moving them to a container to dust them, then dumping them in whatever cage they need to go in... I loose a few... a lot...

Back when I was going through 1k a month... I rarely found loose crix...

Now they are everywhere!!!!

I'm sitting on my couch listening to RR tonight and I start seeing little tiny ones... RR ended, and I went and fed/watered rodents... I come back in to find nearly 100 crix all over my living room... little tiny ones... maybe 1/8 inch?

so... now i'm breeding crix... in my living room...

Anyone got any tips for better crix control?

I'm going to start dumping the box into the bug tub OUTSIDE for starters but UGH!
They are everywhere and do NOT feel good between the toes!

What size tank are you dumping them into? If you use a minimum of a 20 high you can put the whole box deeper into the tank and not have them jump out. Or use a large rubbermaid tub. (With SMOOTH sides) We use a thin layer of sani-chip for bedding. Put a layer of paper towel tubes in there for them to hide in. Use a tall yogurt or cottage cheese cup, hold that in the tank, then pick up a paper towel tube and shake out the crickets you need into the cup. Sprinkle your calcium or whatever, swirl the cup to coat, and dump from the cup into the cage.

Also, with that many being loose are they getting out of the tub somehow? And, check your houseplants, they need somewhere to deposit eggs to breed, and soil seems a much better location to do that then a solid floor. Get a couple house geckos and let them go in your living room, they'll clean up for ya.

I always wanted to do that just for the flys and stuff that collects in the summer time. I can't convince my wife that their better than a fly swatter though :D

I've always got a few geckos running around the house here. Never see em, but once in awhile at night the dog will be nosing the wall, then you have an idea on where they are.
