We'll I'm getting closer with the new light box I'm using. The background should be pure white, not gray. I must have changed something that affected my white balance. These pictures are really accurate as far as showing animal color though.

Thanks, everyone. Since I posted these, I continued to practice... Wow, the day is gone... Anyway, I figured out my white balance issue and now have the background looking white as it should be instead of gray.

This is a lot of fun, but you sure can spend a lot of time on it! Many of my available animals have really improved in color. I was hoping to replace all the pictures this weekend. That's not going to happen!

I'm really happy with this setup. Not only do I have a working light box, but I figured out how to take a picture and have it show up on my laptop immediately. This way I can see what the picture looks like as I take them.

What are the 3rd and 4th ones down? Are those considered salmons? Im working on my boa morphs. Doing much better with the BPs.

Do you do anything with locality stuff like Peruvians or Surinames?

Ooo I got another question :) if you dont mind. Is there any difference in the size of a peru compared to a suri?

- The first one is a jungle het albino. The others are jungle possible super salmon.

- No, not really. I have some Hog crosses and Central American cross, but that is about it.

- I think Peruvian boas get about 6.5 - 7 foot. Suriname boas can get 9ft or so.

Much better man, if your accurately portraying the animals, and I can believe.... then your doing way better then me!

They do look great!

Yea... those are pretty much right on. I've learned that white balance has so much to do with it.

That 4th one down with very little pattern right above the one in shed is a jungle? Its stunning. I mean thats a drop dead gorgeous snake right there. Wow. Thank you for the clarification.

I dont know what a super salmon is. Ill have to look into that.

GREAT PICS LARRY!!

My wife and I just got the Nikon D80 the day after Thanksgiving. I like it, but have absolutely NO idea how to use it yet. I'm an auto mode kind of guy. Every once in a while I'll get crazy and put it on the flower setting (whatever that's called).

Any chance you could post some pics of your new light box? Seems to work pretty well.

Take care.

Hey Larry... I will have to check out the pics at home... they are just red x's here at work (they are prob hosted on flicker or something). I want to see how its going since the last time we were in chat.

In requards to what you stated above... it can also be due to "light fall off". If I am using my white studio background and I want a gray background... then I will adjust my stobes to be just bright enough to illuminate the person and thus the background will look gray (because the light fell off before it reached the background).... think of it this way.... your driving down the road..,. and in front of the car is real well lit... but towards the outter reaches of the headlights... you can bearly see. Its the same principal with studio lighting.
