I had a lot of kings at one. I had a few MBKs. They were the only ones who tried to eat themselves and sometimes went after each other during breeding. I had to keep an eye on them. If the time wasnt right for lovin' then it was time for dinner.

They also tried to eat my fingers whenever they could. And if you showed them a rat twice as big as they were they would go for it. Amazing little snakes. Pretty, too. Especially the pure black ones with absolutely no flaws at all. Little jewels.

I had a pair from Mike Greathouse and they were absolutley perfect! The male was a spaz but the female was nice as could be.

Cool. Yeah MBKs are common but finding the real screamers can take a bit of looking. The real nice ones are so black they almost look purple! Kinda like the one in the pic. You can sorta see a slight purplish hue to him in some spots.

That one does look perfect, doesnt it? I dont see any flaws, do you? Not even on his belly.

Very nice ChristianC!

He has 2 white scales on the bottom of his chin. Other than those 2 scales he is completely black.

Great shots Christian! I had a Mexican Black King that was a lot bigger than that one do the same thing and it took me and the wife over a half hour to get her off of my hand. At first I thought it was funny but after some time I lost seeing the humor in it.... :)

Jenea, just out of curiosity I am wondering about the rubber glove. I see on some of the snakebytes episodes that they are wearing gloves also. Whats the reasoning if you dont mind telling..........

Well, during the time of those pictures, I was recovering from a severe allergic reaction triggered by the chemicals in the mdf I used to make a rack. Long story short, I had to wear gloves in some fashion or other for 6 months straight because my hands were raw. After 8 mths I got them somewhat back to normal but they are super sensitive, so I were them when cleaning cages and feeding. Especially feeding cause wouldn't you know, I am allergic to mice! I do not wear the gloves if I am just handling an animal now, but there was a time I had to. Also, it is easy to dispose of the gloves between tubs so there is no cross contamination between animals. Just an extra measure. Not that there is anything to contaminate with, but it makes me more comfortable. I don't really do it with each tub, more when I am going between species. Different gloves for each species.....yeah I am wierd.

Thanks for answering, it is funny how many people work with snakes but are alergic to rodents! All I can say is thank god I am not! What was it in the mdf that got to you?

FloridaHogs

formaldyhide (sp?) After 8 months we finally figured out that I am allergic to nickle. It is an allergy that does not show itself until there is trauma to the skin. This allergy also causes a sensitivity to formaldyhide. So it was basicall a chemical burn that would not heal until I got the nickel under control. My hands were blistering from the inside out...it was really bad.

Hey Jenea, I was the HR director for a company that chrome plated parts and I ahd a guy that this happened to. We plated some parts with nickel and he was buffing the parts out so he was inhaling the dust. His lungs starting filling with fluid for no reason and come to find out, he was allergic to nickel! This kid almost died from it before the docs figured it out!
