false water cobras are great there a large rear fanged colubrid. males are up there at 9ft snakes and very girthy similar to the indigos. there diurnal snakes that are very visual hunters. when feeding they dont seem to respond to smell of the prey as much as you do with the movement. i feed frozen thawed and you have to tong feed them becuase there very very fast. they are beautiful snakes that are from south america there named false water cobras becuase of they do spread there neck similar to a cobra hood but they show you the back of there neck than standing. there always up and alert there wounderfull snakes i highly recomend them for intermediate to experienced keepers. i recomend cb. and as for pics i dont know how to post pics yet so as soon as i do ill post some pics of my hypo male.

Whats a bite from them like? I've heard it can be as bad as a rattlesnake, but I have also heard theres just some swelling and discomfort.

well i have not been bit personally yet knock on wood. but a few very close friends including the breeder of my male has described it as an imediate burning sensation and swelling. there must be anti couagulents in the venom cuz they all
said it bleed for ever. in all bites they placed a bandage or duck tape over the wound and took some benadril and by the next day the bite looked like a small boa or any other snake had bit you. in one of the cases the snake tha bite him was a 8ft fully grown adult.

Wes Pollack has the most info on this species than anyone I have ever met. I had 4 of his fwc's 3 years ago and they are really cool snakes.

I also think he would make a great guest for a future show..hint hint!
