I thought I would post one of my more unusual hatchings. Only the 2nd BP clutch I have ever hatched, both from the same female. 5 eggs, 4 pipped. The baby that most grabbed my attention was this one

Some interesting neck stripes going on from what I can see. So I wait, and wait, and wait.....finally out he comes and I was right to be interested!

Notice the nice fat belly from absorbing the yolk. One problem though....his belly is very open. I set him up just like his siblings, but keep his paper towel very damp. I can't remember exactly without looking it up, but on either day two or day three I check on him to find this.

Now there was nothing sticking out of him to hang and snag on anything, his belly was just open. He completely lost all of his yolk. I was concerned for him not getting those nutrients, and afraid to feed him until his belly closed. I kept him warm and on damp substrated, and after a month he was healed up and finally starting to eating. I started him on small meals, and now he is up to adult mice. Still playing catchup with his siblings, but he is doing well.

I will try and get some updated pics later today of him. He is now 4 mths old. Still a little small, but doing well.
