our little thanksgiving gecko. This morning my dad checked on the little fellow and he had this crazy head pattern. He seems to be stuck in his shed and may have lost some digits. It's very hard to tell though. Take a look for yourself. Sorry for the bad picture quality.

Wow, that is weird but he does have a really interesting looking head pattern! I wonder if that's some sort of anomaly because of how he was (or more appropriately wasn't) incubated. Hopefully the little guy makes it!

He wasn't actually born with this head pattern. He was a normal looking crestie.

bad news guys...
as of about an hour ago.
poor little thing crapped out.
interestingly, even for a few minutes post-mortem, the tail was workin' it's wiggly magic. never seen that personally.
thanx for all the hopes and wishes, i'll save that name for another lil' one.

Sorry to here that CK and The Onion. Im sure you guys did everything you could.
I had a baby ackie go down on me from a previous clutch this year. He was the only one from the clutch to make it out of the egg. He had some defects but not enough to freeze him. I hate doing that. I worked with him but alas about 5 days later off to that big Retes Stack in the sky.
Happens to all of us at one time or another.

thanx again guys for all the lovin'.
those of you that know the whole story know that he hatched in the adult breeder's tank (naturalistic setup, female must have hid those eggs real good, cause i look real hard ! )
my big concern after all the elation of finding him was that it seemed to be in a stress shed. that being the case because my adults aren't kept nearly as humid as my juvies. so poor little guy started life at a major disadvantage. post- mortem did reveal that some digits were already lost, that happens when the unshed skin shrinks on those little toes, effectively cutting off circulation. it's very hard to tell on an animal that hatches at less than a gram that there are still areas of shed left on. if nothing else, i did finally think of some other way to get that skin off, not looking forward to trying it for the obvious reason, but if the situation does arise, i plan on giving the next little trouble maker an olive oil bath. just a rub down really, extra-virgin, of course ! olive oil has been used forever as a skin softener, since it's also edible, there may be a chance it'll do the trick.
i'll let you guys know if i ever do try it.
thanx again all,
ck
