I was out mowing the lawn yesterday and saw this little guy hopping out of the way, so I had to rescue him and take a few pics. He was released after I got done with the lawn. Bufo Americanus, the American toad. It was nice to see some toads back in my yard after about a 3 year hiatus. This is the second one I found in my yard this summer.

I used to find little babies like this near a pond in Long Island. There would be hundreds hopping around lol. He/She's cute!

Thanks everyone! Yeah, the nearest pond is 2 blocks away and on the other side of some raised RR tracks. The Mississippi river is about 8 blocks away. So, this little guy did a LOT of hopping to get here. :lmao:

Never heard of field herping with a lawn mower - but if that's how you do it up in the north then so be it....

I disagree they are quite special....had one for 9 years I caught as an adult in my younger years....loved that damn frog :)
