Just got this little guy in yesterday, snapped a few pics before getting him settled into his QT set up. His mom is a nice Lipstick Albino, and dad was purchased as a Hypo poss Jungle. About 50% of the litter turned out aberrant, way more so then this guy on some of them.

Well, long story short, I don't know squat about Jungles. I can't read them for nothing, which is why I've stayed clear of them. I don't have a clue what to look for, and was happy keeping it that way.

My colony was supposed to be closed for a while too. But when the little guy is sorta pushed on you, and he's unrelated to anything you have, and carries the genes you happen to be working with already...well, I caved and took him at an offer only an idiot would refuse. LOL

As far as I'm concerned, he's a DH Lipstick Sunglow, and I'm happy with that. But I'd like to know peoples opinions on the Jungle aspect, just because I'm a curious sort of guy. BTW, he's about almost 3 months old.

So, do you think he is, and why? Or do you think he ain't, and why?

Thanks Ron. I like his color. Lets hope he holds it. I got a few years to grow him yet before his girlfriend would be ready. We'll see how he turns out.

I would say that there is a good possibility that he is a Jungle. Aside from pattern aberrancies he has other traits that I look for to identify Jungles: missing saddle points, "clean" color, I think I can see where there is a hint of an outline around the saddles(much more prominent in the non-hypo version) which is a Jungle-y trait.

The problem is that Hypos can display many of the same traits without being Jungles. It is much easier to determine whether an animal is a Jungle or not in the non-hypo version. It is also very difficult to determine whether an albino or a sunglow animal is a Jungle in the absence of extreme aberrancies.

The best way to tell would be to do a breeding with him that will result in some non-hypo, non-albino offspring - like a DH x DH. You should get some normals out of that. If the normal colored boas look like Jungles there's your answer. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful, but to me there isn't a clear answer on this one.

I think if I wanted to prove the Jungle aspect, I'd just choose him a WT female. But in reality, almost anything I pair him with will make normals, because he's het for normal himself.

Thanks for the input. At least I now have an idea of what to look for in Jumgles.
