My two YB girls.... both are doing excellent. I took these few pics tonight.

Here's the story behind them both. Some of you have already seen it. This is one clutch I can say I'm really happy to of saved. They hatched out last June.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
June 13th clutch results.

This clutch was off to a rough start.... 4 eggs, as you can see two of them are boob eggs. The pic below is shown a few weeks from hatching.

I had got advice from Tim Bailey and also Sean at EBN.... The booby eggs were both treated with (LB) Liquid Bandage, costs about $5 per box of about 10 sticks.

The entire boob area was coated with liquid bandage ASAP in a preventative form of treatment before any change was noticed. These eggs were then doted over for the entire duration.

Below pic was taken a few weeks prior to hatching.

http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s189/Da-vault/Hatching%20out/1.jpg

About three weeks before their due date, one of the eggs (The smallest) developed mold spores on the boob area. Using the cap off a pen, I carefully scraped it off and re-applied liquid bandage to the area.... but these spores would re-appear as shown each day. So it became a matter of scraping them off each day to prevent them from spreading and potentially killing the egg.

Well, the liquid bandage treatments did work... the entire clutch went full term.... here is the other boob egg after being cut when one of the "normal" eggs had pipped.

The boob egg, washed out, this is the one that grew mold spores.

I did a cross section cut of the boob section, it has the consistent feel of not quite set silicon. Not hard, but pliable and a some what softish gel feel.

Also out of the clutch came this male Granite.... has similar side pattern and markings to the YB's, so I find him to be interesting!

Both of the YB's are females.... couldn't ask for better odds there!

Hope you enjoyed the long post and didn't fall asleep! LOL

Those are some HOT yellow bellies. I know they're pretty much a dime a dozen these days, but to be honest, it's not very often that I see one that catches my eye -- let alone TWO that catch my eye. Great job on saving them, looks like it was definitely worth the effort.

See this is why I love the BLBC.

Sput absolutely fantastic post. Ive had eggs boob on me and they always die. They usually burst at some point and I have a half formed baby inside. Ive also had eggs pop before they reach full term due to a tiny hole that occurs for some unknown reason. Im thinking too much humidity causing them to become turgid (tense).

Now I have a plan. Liquid Bandage! Its worth a try if it happens again!

Thank you for sharing this information, sir. :yessir:

Nice post and some great stuff to see. It's stuff like this that is very helpful on what to try and do when something like this happens for anyone, but especially a first timer though who might not have a clue what to do when this happens to them. Very good post I'm glad you shared it :yourock:

Great post and great looking babies! Never tried the liquid band aid, just used anti fungal powder and it worked well also......

That is a great story Scott with an even better ending, very nice documentation also. I never give up on the eggs either until they are just solid mold. I just make sure they can't contaminate any of the other eggs in the clutch. Nice save Bro! http://www.albeysreptiles.com/images/thumbsup.gif

Excellent post Scott, I remember talking with you about this earlier this season. Per your suggestion I used liquid bandage along with anti-fungal powder. Unfortunately I still lost one of the eggs, but was able to save the egg that was having the same issues, and it too hatched fine!

Thanks ck,

The granite has the quint essential (As I like to call em) side markings seen on YB's, but doesn't have the belly pattern.... I wish he was a granite YB.

Dime a dozen is right, but I got more of a buzz from this clutch then any other produced last year.... not because the eggs had to battle to make it, but because of what came out of those two eggs.

I got more of a thrill from the two YB's then any of the other morphs that hatched out.... Hoping to see more YB's this year too!

I'm hoping to hit on those odds this year, obviously not with these two girls, but from breeding the sire of them to a Matrix Blonde Pastel.... keeping the digits crossed!

Cool post Scott! I have heard of people using liquid band-aid before but never tried it myself....
