What cameras is everyone using most of time for their pictures??? I have heard different ones mentioned in different threads but want a general consensus from all. I'm thinking new camera down the road and thought I'd see what was common on here with you guys and what your using. :D

Thanks

Just a kodak easy share DX6490

I think it cost less then $300..... fairly basic, but does the job. The software that comes with it isn't of much help.... so I use other photo programs that come with the computer we got.

I'm using a Canon Power Shot S2 -- it's a cheapy point and shoot but it takes decent pictures -- not nearly the same quality you'll get from a good SLR but good enough with a decent macro setting. I think it cost me a couple hundred a few years ago.

Sony Cybershot 7.2mp - the one with the Carl Ziess lens, there's 2 differen't 7.2mp cybershots.

I believe they are actually on sale now for around $150-$175 so you could probably get the 12mp for around $200-$250 and that thing is badass for just a point and shoot.

Eventually we'll get a Digital SLR... but for now I definitely like the sony for the pics it takes...

Canon Digital Rebel XT with the 18-55mm Kit Lens. Im planning on getting some longer IS Lenses ( image stabilization) for outdoorsy shots, and some macro stuff for whatever too.

Trust me when i say, i will NEVER own another Point and Shoot again after this camera! i LOVE it!

Yes to the above and I should have explained more....What I have now is a Sony Cyber Shot (DSC-W1) 5.1 MP. Basic point and shot camera takes good pictures. Not sure where that stands with how good of a camera it is?? But I know my skills could improve some as well. The Camera I'm looking at next I would like to be an affordable Digital SLR Camera with good Macro functions. I have an SLR Cannon rebel G now that isn't a digital. I like that camera but hate not being able to see my pic's right away like my digital. I've gotten spoiled and I really don't use that Camera much anymore do to the fact I can't see the digital pic's right away. I'm Not running out the door tonight to buy one either. I wanna hear what others are using check them out and hear also what others think would be a good choice as well or what they are using now. Thanks for thoughts and comments ahead of time

If youre looking for a specific camera, and want specific looks, a good place that helped me decide was Flikr. You have to read how the shot was taken, usually on the right of the page, and usually, they will list what lens was used. If you dont want to spend a bundle, The Nikon D40 and the Canon Rebel Xt are decent starter DSLR cameras that you can definitely grow with. I personally prefer the Canon, but in all honesty, both are very good cameras. The canon just had more functions and the feel that i preferred over the Nikon.

Go there, and then just browse around. Start researching the terms and the lenses that are being used with each photo. ( How the photo was taken)

A great website to check out, to learn about photography is:

I check that page, almost daily. LOTS of Excellent tips, and tricks, and fun things to try. They also hold contests and other such things if you feel up to the task! Definitely worth visiting a few times.

A crappy old fuji now but after this month's OT I will have the nikon d80 or d90 depending on the sales going on....

Also have been eying a fuji s2000HD for a nice point and shoot camera to keep around....not a bad price on them from what I've seen.

Nikon D40. I was told that because the sensor is large it takes better pictures than its rated 6.1 megapixels. I love it and take all my snakes shots with it. Before that a Canon SD1000 one of the better point and shots

Nikon D80 with:

Sigma 105mm macro
Sigma 50/500mm
Tamron 28/80mm
Tamron 70/300mm macro
Tamron 28/300mm macro

If your looking for a point and shoot... Id suggest either the Fuji S1000 or S2000. Their macro is awesome.
