Can you feed Leopard Geckos a straight diet of mealworms it's whole life? I bred Leo's from 1997-2000 but I hate having to bring in a thousand crickets a week, every week and then deal with them. I think setting up and producing your own mealworms would be great.

Yes you can. Many of the bigger breeders do and I myself did until the mealworm "situation" now I'm currently looking for another source for them because I hate crix as well.

I heard that many of the supplier were out of mealworms, but have no idea why. I love Leo's and think I may get me a few in the near future. I think I would just setup 10 large tubs and breed all my own meal worms. I have bred them in the past and getting the humidity level right and your potato or apple setup so they get the moisture they need without molding is the key. If that level is just right they breed like crazy.

Grain contamination at the facility of the largest mealworm supplier in the country.
Anyway I'm going to get my colony back up and going in a minute. The shortage forced me to feed off all the ones I had.

We feed nothing but Mealworms and breed our own so that we are entirely self sufficient... when we need more we just go to the mealie tubs..
Wish I could say the same about rats... Really gotta get a small colony going so we can do the same for the snakes... Just that smell!!
