i have bought from bigapple also and i am using there BAH 1000 thermostats now but with problems. they keep failing on me multiple times a week. was great the first 2 weeks but then started raising my temps to the highest the thermostat is registered causing my cages floor temp to raise between 112 and 115 degrees. i have contacted them and i got a return slip to return them but it also states that returning them does not guarantee an exchange? i mean if they do ir once or twice a week then we have to wait and let them test them for a few days before even finding out something. also i know they wont keep them running for a few days to test them out, all they will do is plug them in and set a temp for an hour or so if that and if one doesnt fail in that time you dont get to exchange? i could see if someone wanted there money back to have to go through all the waiting and troubles but to exchange it for the same thing you already have? lol

so i guess heres the question for you guys, do i just junk the products and purchase some helix or something else or send these failing thermostats back and hope they make right on them and dont just say they dont have a problem because we tested them for an hour?

Hi,

I happened to catch this post as I was admiring the ramping up of the contest on this fine forum. I wanted to quickly address your concerns indicated in your post.

I apologize that you have had issues with the thermostats you purchased.

We normally like to set any defective thermostat up in our testing chamber to see whether the issue is the thermostat or a possible problem with the customer's setup or some kind of incompatibility. To have more than one unit fail at the same time is unusual so we normally like to see what might have caused the issue.

With that being said you will definitely have your units replaced and we never leave customers simply to feel they are out of luck... that is not the way we service our customers.

We could have sent new ones out to you immediately but we have have been out of stock of these for three weeks awaiting our new shipment from Taiwan. We are currently back ordered for almost 100 BAH-1000 thermostat units but no need to worry because we have a very large shipment in route to us.

Again, I'm very sorry if there was some kind of miscommunication where you thought that there was even the slightest chance that we wouldn't make good on your return.

Please return the thermostats so that we can get you new units.

Sincerely,

Steven

IMO - This was a very inappropriate post to make this thread...That's why we have a "Business Talk" forum...Do you understand that Big Apple has gone out of their way to sponsor this forum? To even give a 1 time 10% discount to anybody that puts Reptile Radio in the promo box? Pretty shitty of you if you ask me...What I would do - Is send in your Blah-1000 and let them look at it...But you have to remember - You get what you pay for...I'd take Big Apple up on the 10% and grab a Helix...

Kudos to Big Apple. Sounds like good customer service there!

Hey mods, could that post be copied and moved to the other thread that split from this one. Seems like their response needs to be over there as well. Thanks.

you're right BT, you do get what you pay for. and although it was posted in the wrong place due to me not really knowing where to place and asking if it shouldnt be there to move it please doesnt make it a shitty post. it seems to me from your reply is that you're saying since someone supports the site and gives a one time discount to us BLBC members that a post about failing product issues from the same company is shitty? i may be wrong here and reading into something thats not, but it does seem that way in the post. i was stating facts from an email i recieved back from them not something to just bash the company. regardless of what company it may be or who they support or what they do for others doesnt mean that it is shitty for someone to make a post of issues they are having. perhaps that was the wrong place to post it and i am sorry and didnt know but i did ask for it to be moved if it was so i do not see it as being shitty imo, but if you do then thats your opinion and you are entitled to it. also i am not saying they are a bad company by no means and i will be doing more business with them in the furture and with returning the products. i know that some are faulty but they come in that way if they are shipped in from overseas. everything you buy isnt going to be perfect all of the time if it was then companys would go out of business because nothing would ever break lol.

I said - It was shitty of you to make that post in Big Apples sponsor thread...I didn't say not to bring up business issues...I said that's why we have a "Business Forum"...Maybe you should have PM'ed a Mod or Admin if you weren't sure where to post a business issue...And yes - That is my opinion...

Over the years I have found that most of the problems with Tstats is from the power supply going to your house! I use to have tons of trouble when I moved into my house and had the power company check the transformer and they replaced it because it was not "right". It is very rare that I have a problem now......

i thought about that also, and with digital tstats i could see that happening but with dial tstats the power problem wouldnt cause the dial to turn on its on i dont think. i could be wrong. the tstats are awesome for there price and worked fine for a few weeks, i have 1 connected to 2 2x2x2 cages and 1 hooked to a 4x2x2 cage, could they be over loaded? i didnt think flexwatt used much wattage. i have 2 seperate 1 ft pieces of flex on 1 and a single 2ft piece on the other. could that be over 800 watts?

A variation of power coming into the plugin could cause a variation in temps and possible stat failure. So it can affect both styles equally.

Yea those are all possible issues. In my snake room I had to run a dedicated circuit to keep my Helixs from throwing errors..

Now they all run perfect..

I was under the impression that the BAH-1000 was a proportional stat. It still has a chip in it that regulates the power, even though the temp is set with a dial. Power fluctuations on your circuit can still cause it to throw problems.

Any little flicker in power will trip a helix into a error code.........

I'm not saying what your saying is false Phil or Larry. I believe you both =) but I have never experienced that with any of my helixs and I have seen lots of power flickers and so on here with storms and cars hitting polls and so on. Never in the last 3 years have ever seen any code come up on mine for anything. That's why I love them and keep getting them never any issues =) Yes they are turned on!!! (LOL)
