I love these guys, but don't own any. Stephi says they suck because you don't see them. Any way there have been a few threads with great pics that has re-sparked my enthusiasm. I have a simple question. What is the largest size tub these guys require in a rack set up? They have gotten on the to do list and I have lots of time in the winter when every one else is down and I don't work. LOL. AS stated before on previous threads info is limited and it looks like there are some great breeders on here. Enlighten me.

What substrate have you found to be best?

I would say 28 or 32 qt tubs but I like giving my snakes room to move around a little. For the short time I had them I used aspen as bedding and just used about a 3" layer for them to burrow into. They seemed to love it!

I use 28 quart tubs for the females. They deffinetly could use the extra space. With just about 2-3" of shredded aspen and a water bowl. I used just 15 quarts for the males.

I was figuring around that size. Thank you for the feed back. For heat I was thinking belly. How have you guys had it it set up? Also what temp has worked for you?

belly heat works fine.
15qt. for even the biggest male, 28-32qt for a large female.
good luck, they're easy to keep, and easy to breed.

Belly heat all the way. I have 1 layer of heat cable on the males and 2 on the females. Flexwatt works too, but heat cable is starting to win me over.

I find aspen is the best substrate to use, imo, and that was after using sand myself. Sand was just too dusty, and i didn't like the way it clung to the snakes when it got wet.
