Yes south african species.
And V. there story isssssss................
They are sexually dimorphic (males possesing the 4 white spots on the back and females not).
I keep them on about 3 inches of sand with a hide in groups of 1.2 in 32 qt.steralites.
Back of the rack stays about 90 degrees.
I cool them slightly and let the temps drop about 10 degrees starting in October. The end of Febuary i raise the temps back up about 2 degrees every day.
After that copulation usually happends right away.
As soon as i notice the females developing eggs i remove the male and provide 4 nesting boxes (2 on the cool side and 2 on the hot side).
The reason for that is because i have had females become eggbound from not laying in either nest box.Possibly due to a dominent female???
After about a 30 day (give or take)gestation about 2 eggs are laid.
I personally have only had about 2-4 clutches off of one mating.
I incubate the eggs in perelite at about 70% humidity.Eggs hatch in roughly 60 days at 83 degrees.
