Florida Fish and Wildlife is requiring a lot more information. Last week I paid my annual permit fee. Today I got a new questionnaire from them. They want evacuation plans, emergency contact info, drawings of animal room layouts, and more. Has anyone else got this new questionnaire?

Evac plans for the animals I take it, could be something they want to know after what Katrina did.... but I also don't trust them either. Play it safe, answer the questions, but don't volunteer more then what is asked and keep it as simple as you can is what I'd suggest based on what you have posted.

I have nothing to hide, so I will answer their questions. However, I don't trust them either.

It seems to be a random thing. I have heard of people getting that questionare for the last year, yet when I redid my permit in June, I did not recieve one...wonder if it has something to do with the type animals.

I got that too. You don't actually SEND the evac form. That's to be kept at your place, but you are required to have one.
It's confusing, and I went over and over and over it.

Yeah I think FFW may do it at random. I have mixed feelings about it all. I think it's great that there are regulations, because I live in south florida and I want it to stay beautiful and packed with awesome animals. When it comes to personal collections, I think they are over the top sometimes. I also know that there are A LOT of knuckleheads that have reptiles (just look at craigslist!). If I had to take them or leave them, I'd take them. The + outweigh the - when it comes to FFW.

Oh, I forgot, it's apparently the standard form for all breeders of exotics. I personally found the "chemical restraint" part hysterical, as I could only imagine using a traq dart gun to pin tiny baby ball python escapees to the floor with the darts. Because we all know how difficult to recapture a escaped ball python is, the way they dart about so quickly...
