Hey Winston do you know how they got their name? Those are some awesome pics, and I agree you're nuts. I've encountered a few chest deep in water wade fishing on Sam Rayburn and they freak me out!

LOL, don't they though. You would not believe the arguements I'd get into in elementary school with kids from the south swearing that we had those here in Michigan. Any dark snake that swam in the water was a cotton mouth. Man that made me buggy.

All that being said, I like the shots.

Don't I know it!! They're all "moccasians", so they are BAD!! Bah......though I have to say, cottonmouths in these parts sooner chase you down a bite ya than run......aggressive little buggers.

They aren't that bad in my parts, I have a place I go that every third step you are stepping over one or pushing a limb out of your way that has one sunning in it. Even when their mouth is open and they are feigning you can put your foot right next to them and they wont bite. I know this because the place I go is only about a half mile long and a lot of it you are on a 2ft. ledge with them. Last time there we seen 50 of them, 3 timber rattlesnakes, 6 green vine snakes, 1 copperhead, and more black rats than I could count, all in a 1/2 mile stretch. (Hell of a herp ground)

If I had a place where I could come across that many snakes in that small an area I'd think I'd died and gone ta heaven. :master:

As much as I love snakes its actually kind of scary. You really have to watch where you put your hands for the ones on branchers and your pressed up against a rock face and a drop off on some of the walk with the snakes being on the rock face too.

I'm not sure I'd risk the walk with all the venomous, but that many snakes in an area that size would just put me as close to heaven as I could get without dyin' first. :wamma:
