wow very nice! I might need some of those. How hard are they to get them to eat rats?

FloridaHogs

No rats Erick, pups are to fatty, so an adult would need to be on adult mice. You have to keep an eye on the amount of fat they get.

Yeah...no rats.
In fact, the guy I got these from says he only feeds pinkies....even the adult snakes....just a lot of em'.
That might be a little too far but, he's having good success with em this way.

These haven't even shed yet so....I haven't tried feeding. Guess I'll do what I do with the BHPs....assist them until they start.
Can't be any harder then the frickin' BHPs.

Cheers,
D.

No way would I keep an eastern on pinks...almost nothing but fat. I am actually going to experiment with chicks for my adult female since I am still in the process of converting her. Chicks are leaner I think.

So, its better to feed them more mature mice? Interesting... Jenea keep me updated if you get any babies.

The leaner the better. Hopefully next season I will produce some.

I've always enjoyed those....but yeah feeding them can sure be a trick sometimes. Frog slime goes a long way sometimes. lOL

Beautiful! Good luck with the feedings. I'm in the same boat with 2 clutches of simus hatchlings....can be stressful working in the rodents.

How is the feeding going Derek?

Easier than I thought. Haha.
Just taking day old pinks...and senting with whatever frog or toad I can find around my front door.
I actually had one... eat an unscented...the first try.

2 or 3 are being a little more difficult than the rest though.

Too cool...these guys.

Derek, freeze the frogs first. You are taking a huge risk scenting with live. Lost a whole colony I had raised up to breed from flukes transfered from the live toad I was using to scent. Not worth the risk when they accept frozen scent just as well. Also, try a brained pink. Had one take that right off as well.

I would also be putting them in their water bowl every 2nd or thrid day. They are not the best about finding the water, and will dehydrate without you realizing it. Glad they are doing good for you.

Yeah, I'm doing frozen...The toads are a real nuisance down here and, I freeze them as I find em'.
Plus...Keogan has a freezer full as well. Haha.

I've been burying the water bowls down in the substrate and I find them soaking every other day or so.

Haven't done brained yet but, I'll give that a try.

Cheers,
D.
