monk90222 09-26-2010, 08:30 AM I actually recently lost a sale due to this guys (or similar) prices. I was selling lessers and a potential customer asked me to match $225 shipped. I said no. Never heard from him again....

Better to lose the sale than compromise yourself and sell your animal too cheap.

Art In Scales 09-27-2010, 11:06 AM I was at the Denver show back in January and had a guy ask me if I would match another venders price, a female spider for $100. I told him he better jump on it because I wasn't going that low. He bought it from the other vender and I sold mine a couple of weeks later for $325. If you hold out a little they will sell.

So this is the ad you told me about, Daniel. That's RiverSIDE Reptiles selling that lesser not RiverWALK Reptiles. So I don't know those guys.

Wasn't that other vendor the one that sold a sick adult male spider (Frothing at the mouth) for $80? and also a sick 600g female cinnamon with RI for $80?

What is a good price to sell a lesser?? If you have them for $300 they dont sell?? then $275 they dont sell?? $200 and you get hits, well there you have it. Pat Riverside Reptile Breeders

$300 is a fair price, that's what I've been getting and I'm sold out. How long do you hold a price? They look pretty small you shouldn't give up so quickly.
DanielA989 09-27-2010, 07:13 PM Just sold a lesser male at $300 this morning. Have 4 more to sell why lose $100 on a animal that sells at $300? There you have it..........
DanielA989 09-27-2010, 07:16 PM I get more than $175 WHOLESALE for my lessers and your advertising on retail classifieds. Call it what you will the water is getting awful warm.....

There is also a difference between what someone is willing to pay for something vs. what someone is able to pay for it. Lessers for example ARE selling for $350 - $400, I know because we are sold out.
How many times have you (you meaning anyone--not you specifically snakeguy46) looked at a snake and thought "if I only had the money" as opposed to seeing something and saying "No way would I pay that much"
The economy sucks right now and most people don't have snakes at the top of their need list. This doesn't necessarily necessitate the need to drop prices.

You could always list it for market price OBO and take less if someone offers an amount you would be willing to take. I don't think most people care what you sell it for. They're more interested in what you're advertising it for.
