View Full Version : Recommend a hog breeder???
LP Reptiles 09-30-2010, 02:27 PM I have been looking for a hog breeder i can get a 10lot of mixed sexed normal hogs pinky eatters???? Would like to start producing them. the only place i can get them is from flipper sites... I would like to get them from a breeder...any ideas ?.....
FloridaHogs 09-30-2010, 02:46 PM Western hogs I presume?
LP Reptiles 09-30-2010, 03:06 PM Western hogs I presume?
yeah....just normal westerns....
FloridaHogs 09-30-2010, 03:31 PM Well, I have ten easy, but I sell out every year, so have no need to wholesale off westerns ever.
Gregg M 09-30-2010, 06:44 PM You may be able to get a bunch of normals from a person who hatched a clutch or two and cant be bothered to try and get thenm feeding but most of the good breeders do not sell wholesale to the general public...
Breeders can get $35 to $75 for normals without a problem... I sold an entire clutch of Chambers red line Het for Shanklin line albinos at top dollar and they all sold quickly... There is no need to wholesale them off...
My suggestion to you is, if you are really interested in breeding, instead of looking for a cheap 10 lot of normals, invest in a pair or trio of quality, established, animals... Sure it will cost you a bit more per animal but its well worth the money...
Some great breeders off the top of my head...
Brent Bumgardner at Superconda
Greg Bennett at Bennett Reptiles
Brad Chambers
Charlie Shanklin
And the list goes on... Most of the well known hog breeders are really great people...
FloridaHogs 09-30-2010, 06:52 PM 35 is a whole sale price for my normals....if they are being sold for 35, they are market crashing IMO. Been doing hoggies for years, and that is a ridiculous price for established feeding animals.
Yeah, I get $75 for normal baby pinky eaters, have no need to go lower as they sell well at that price.

Yup, $75 is my base price for males.

thanks, will look them up...
i wasnt really looking for cheap ones, thats why im not getting them from any wholeselers.... quality is a reason i want to get some from a breeder and not a flipper. It does seem like alot of breeders are out of normals tho'. I have talked with Greg and hes sold out for the year.....i will find some... just would like to get them at one time.
FloridaHogs 10-01-2010, 11:33 AM Thanks Ron, :D. Though I do tend to focus on the more unusual hoggies ;).
Rextiles 10-01-2010, 01:45 PM Hi Lance,
I don't have quite the amount of hognose that you are looking for but I do have 6 healthy established pinky eating Poss. Het Albino Males that hatched out 2 months ago from an Anaconda x Het Albino pairing as well as an '08 surplus normal female. She's a bit on the small side for an '08 but she was a slow starter that is now eating mice regularly and catching up in size to her siblings. I also have some Poss. Het Albino Anaconda males if you were looking for anything a little more exotic. The plus side is I'm in Vancouver, so I'm in the local vicinity which makes it nice so you can see the animals in person and not have to deal with shipping. Let me know if you are interested and maybe we can work something out. :)

Not saying I think they should be sold at $35 each... I am saying the amount of animals he is looking for (10 or more), I am certain a good breeder with let them go between the price range I mentioned...
And I am sorry I did not mention you in my breeder list... LOL...
FloridaHogs 10-02-2010, 08:58 PM No problem Greg. :) Since I don't really have a lot of the western morphs yet and do more of the harder to keep biggies, it is not a big deal. Most of those you mentioned are known for their amazing morphs.
13north 11-09-2010, 01:08 AM Im more for getting a couple select nice pairs of snakes raising them up and producing the babies myself. Im more of a ball guy but really have taken a liking to the hogs.
