Stepped out front for a cigarette at our newer house in the Estrella Mountain range.. When low and behold; a subadult coachwhip frightens the daylight outta me... It quicky goes into a bush; bush club member I think; as I'm lookin in the leaf litter at the bottom for it; it's already four feet off the ground in the blink of an eye starin me straight in the nose!! I got my hands on em eventually after retreating for tongs; checked him for ticks or wounds; deemed it one healthly little bugger and released it after a short handling session that surprisingly didn't result in a bite!! How rare is that with a coachwhip... In my life; 2 for 4 on coachies!! The two I couldn't handle were biiiiiiig black headed monsters... And in one case; I was repeated belted grabbin tail!! Brought me back to ten years old!! I got pics before hands on in bush; it's a total "where's Waldo" picture and a hands on; no blood was shed that day... But; I was down to shorts only; kids thought something happened to me; came home from school as I was inside cleaning us up; my socks were off; used them as gloves; didn't work; my shirt off and shoes scattered... I was stretching for anything to help me with this kid!!! It was a blast!!! As immature as this sounds; I'd like to publicly thank that cw for a wondefull time that 110 degree day.. Glad our paths crossed!!

Hey Tom I'm a real big coachwhip fan. Whatever happened to the pics? I'd love to see them.
