HiImSteveDuh 10-08-2010, 09:27 PM Auratus is where it's at ;) Just kidding, i've never had experience with azureus, but my first darts where auratus. I personally would go for a 20 vertical with a background that they can climb on. even their scientific name dendrobates means "tree walker" and while they dont climb so much if given a natural pathway to travel upwards (such as a root, branch, rock, ect.) they will spend a lot of time off the ground and will use that vertical space. Wife agreed if I start with them she likes the blue so I just need a start haha. HiImSteveDuh 10-08-2010, 10:26 PM Wife agreed if I start with them she likes the blue so I just need a start haha. I love my blue auratus! They start out pretty shy, but my pair is pretty bold. Theyre the first frog people see when they start scouring the tanks looking for frogs. tokaysunlimited 10-09-2010, 06:53 AM Azureus is where its at.Aside from thumbnails. Honestly man they are very durable i have had good success in the past with pairs in a 10 gallon terrestrial. Chadbandman 10-09-2010, 11:13 AM A normal 20 is what I recomend. If you have hiding spots like coco huts, Magnolia leaves, cork bark they are out all the time. They are ground huggers but can and do climb to the top for the cage. I like to use leca(2inches), large coco bark(1.5 inches) and a bit of spag moss. Some low growing vine like pathos. YouTube - MVI 0739 JAG if you have any ?'s or need any help LMK. The darts are tuff animals. asplundii 10-10-2010, 07:36 PM I did not find az too be too difficult, morphed mine out and grew them up real easy... I had a pair in a 10 but for better activity I would say go with a 20. And if you give them the vertical they will make use of it, always found one of mine up high. Jeepguy 10-11-2010, 08:41 AM They are definitely more terrestrial. You will do fine with either size, but larger is always better. Ours are always out. Hides are the most important thing for these guys. We have a built in background that they used when they were younger, but now almost full grown they are never up on it anymore. JAG 10-11-2010, 06:59 PM I have decided to go with a 15 gallon tank. its same floot space as 20 H but shorter. I will also set up a 10 gallon just in case I ever produce any froglets. |
