Yesterday someone mentioned the big Christmas tree box racks. Here are a few pics of the one I put together for my womas and black pines....

Looks good Nor.

What are the dimensions of those boxes? And what are you using for heat? Flexwatt?

You must have some beefy black pines!

Wow, thats big. Sounds like a great tub for snakes too big for a CB70. And a lot cheaper than a commercial cage that size. Pretty cool.

noticed you shortened those door slabs.
nice that you re-plugged the ends.
however...
over time, those hollow core doors will de-laminate on you.
depending on the load placed on them, and how concentrated it is.
the corrugated cardboard honeycomb core is not good in tension.
it won't happen overnight, may not grieve you for years, but you may want to address it, or consider some options for redistributing the weight of the tubs so it some how comes down on the frame, and not so much on that soft core.
never kept womas or any pits, but i don't recall either being a high humidity critter, which is good. so your slabs won't be subject to uneven expansion and contraction too much, however, they appear to be unsealed, erect me if i'm wrong, and that can accelerate the inevitable demise.
just some suggestions, not lookin' to hose 'ya bro, on the contrary, trying to prevent future consternation.
good luck,
ck

ALOT cheaper, but the lack of a rack makes them a pain right now, next month...maybe by spring...lol

See below.... Chan got it right!

And yes, they were quite big. I sold them about 3 months ago to a buddy but the female was about 6 1/2' of pure evil!

Oh of course. They do no good without a rack. :)

I didnt know those things even existed. Silly me. My head is spinning with ideas on what to do with them, LOL!

Monitors really arent rack animals. But I betcha I could do something with skinks!

That is one of the reasons I never considered them, mine would be for the coastal carpet and bloods...way to much humidity and some good weight.

I like the concept so I wonder what else can be used that won't sag in the middle....

No but I found if you take the latching top, cut out a section and use hardware cloth it works great with some high temp lizards...

For those wishing you could get those tubs locally, they're usually a seasonal item and can be found at many Wal-Marts and such at this time of year around the holidays, but they aren't on the shelves long.
