View Full Version : New Incubator!
Steven_Kelley 12-15-2008, 12:13 PM Always wanted to convert one of these! This thing is a monster! Stands about 6ft tall and should hold plenty of ball eggs in the next couple years to come!
I have all the shelving and everything just need to wire up the flexwatt and pickup a nice proportional T-Stat. There's also about a 10" fan as well up top that will help circulate that hot air for us!

Best of luck to everyone this season!
Good luck with that. Hell, that's big enough to do a batch or two of burm eggs LOL
chrisr9240 12-15-2008, 12:42 PM very nice i found a bunch outside a local distributing plant by me i am going to stop and tryto get one someday
norsmis 12-15-2008, 12:47 PM Congrats Steve! I had a double door model years ago and I loved it! It was still functional (for a while) so I would cycle colubrids through brumation in the summer so I had babies all year round! After it went caput, I converted it to a bator.... wish I still had that monster... of course I couldnt fill it up these days!!!!
Wild Bill 12-15-2008, 12:56 PM I've been watching for one of those for a couple years now. The problem for me is there is a company that refurbishes them locally, so I can never find a cheap one. I've asked that company if I could buy a defective one and they always say no.
Jason 12-15-2008, 12:59 PM id love to grab one of those.... never can find any though
Steven_Kelley 12-15-2008, 01:05 PM actually got this one for free!

FloridaHogs 12-15-2008, 01:45 PM Indeed, free is the BEST!! That is how I got mine (of course mine is a mini, not full size.) You are going to love the glass doors!

Ya well the glass doors are the main reason I've wanted one of these for the past couple of years! I don't have to worry about heat escaping just to look...
I'll post pics when it's all setup...
Sputnik 12-15-2008, 03:21 PM Congrats, that's a sweet pick up! :yessir:
NoahHart 12-15-2008, 03:30 PM Nice Steven. I love mine and wish I could find another.
m00kfu 12-15-2008, 05:50 PM Lucky bastich, I've been wanting one of those myself also. The only busted one I could find around here was owned by a meat shop... and they used it to store deer hides while they were curing. Can you guess why I passed on that one? :p
Varanus99 12-15-2008, 05:56 PM Sweet pick up Steve. Looks great.
I use a converted fridge but Im using a standard fridge. No glass doors :(
I thought about sawzalling a hole and putting plexi on both sides but ehhhhh too much of a pain. Cutting through fridges is no picnic. Plus it holds temps so nicely now I dont want to screw with it.
So I have to open it to peek. Thats a beauty though. Gonna look fantastic all set up.

If you put water bottles in any "open" space that you can fit them, when you open it up you will lose much less heat. Just s tip.

Yes Ive heard about this but so far havent taken the plunge. I think I need to add a "heat sink" for my next season.
Thanks for the kick in the tail, Noah. I needed that! :yessir:
