I've seen a lot of this over the years. Thankfully I've been lucky and never fell for it. Good post

Yea, that's normally the "Nigerian" scam. Evidently this guy was also sending USPS Money Orders for just the purchase price. You take it to your bank, they put it in your account... you ship the goods, then 5 days later your bank sends you a notice that the check was no good. You not only lose the deposit, but $25.00 (or whatever your bank charges) for the bad check fee.Counterfeiting has gotten pretty sophisticated for even the layman. I spent 25 yrs in Law Enforcement and near the end had several investigations where this exact thing happened to people. One guy even took the cashiers check straight to the bank and was told everything was okay. His sister was even savvy enough to make a photocopy of the guy Delaware driver's license. He sold the ATV. Five days later he gets hit with the returned check fee on a cashiers check that fooled the bank. Turns out the Driver's license was a forgery too. Technology today has made master counterfeiters out of run of the mill hoodlums.
