Anyone have any weird methods that they use to get their boys going?

I tend to move all my boys to 1 rack and then put my TV in front of it and loop road house for 24 hours before I pair them up with their girls, that seems to work out best.

[Disclaimer: I am of course Joking and this is meant to be satire]

I play them Clay Akin. After they hear that they have to rub up on a female just to get it out of their heads.

I bet you'd have better luck if you looped one of the dvd's for 24. Jack Bauer > James Dalton. ;)

I dont think these are weird but this is what I try if I have a male that is slow to start.
Make sure they are being cycled in some way.
Put shed of a mature breeding male in his tub, and or the tub he is in with female.
Pop a mature male and wipe his sperm on the top of the tail of the female he is with.
Put him in with a breeding pair for a short time.

Just keep at these things and keep rotating him in with the girls and usually they will get the hang of it.

some of you may find this offensive but Raymond Hoser came out with a new method of copulating his animals... Artificial insemination. No kidding... I think if it ever comes to that I will just label said male as a "different" and move on...............reminds me of a scene from the second jackass film.

Omg i think i just vomited my coffee while reading that post... I remember that scene. His method was derived out of, hmmmm knowing hoser probably for fun...lol... he's a tool anyway... But it would have a place and purpose in the herp culture, propagating species that are not easy to breed... Boelens come to mind... WC species that can no longer be plucked from the wild and not to mention the possibility of hybrids... which I'm not a fan of.

I like to put the smaller younger males in with females as soon as they are done being bred by another male. 9 times out of 10 it does the job! You just have to watch who your putting in with who. So there is no problem if that male locks with the female.

the female needs sperm to fertilize her follicles... I'll go into more details if any one is interested in reading ... there is a easy method to transfer male sperm that has been well... ejaculated into the fertile female....

This is kinda off topic [Hah!] But Boelens do breed in captivity, it's getting them to lay eggs that's the problem.
