Well, I finally found a female Moluccan scrub to pair up with my buddy Dude. He is going to have to wait a couple years because she is just a couple months old, but I like raising these guys up from little ones as it helps to become in sync with their behavior. This pretty girl is a Bushmaster CH animal that I just got in this morning from Ben Seigel. I took a couple quick shots of her and you can see she is starting to change from her rust red neonatal coloration to the golden yellow color that she will develop as she matures.

Has she tagged you yet, because she looks like she wants to!

Actually she has been pretty chill. I pulled her out of the bag and she crawled on my arms for a bit. The bright spotlight got her amped up and she had that fire in her eyes but she never struck. I treat Moluccans like when I used to keep Retics and I establish a routine where I always use a hook to lift them and let them know it is not feeding time. I have had Dude so long that when he feels the hook you can actually see his body relax and his focus change. It is really rewarding working with Mols as long as you stick to a routine and never let your guard down. I expect she will eventually get me a few time as we try to establish a mutual trust, but that is part of the challenge and fun of keeping these elegant pythons.

Awesome, congrats on picking her up. That male you have is one of the most wicked snakes i've seen, hope they can make some awesome hatchlings for you in a few years.

Adult Mols are one of the most beautiful snakes out there. Congrats on the pickup. I am interested in these guys down the road, but space is my main concern. What size of enclosure do you use for adults?

Yayness!!!! :wamma::wamma::wamma::rockon:

I do love those guys but I will forever be forced to enjoy them vicariously through you! Thanks for sharing the pictures! Can't wait for babies -- from what I've heard those are hard ones to reproduce so I hope all goes smoothly.

Bryce a 4 foot boaphile should be adequate for most of their adult life span. Sometimes it is neccessary to move them upto 6 footers. They get a bit longer than Coastal carpets but are more slender for thier length. Hope that helps.

Thanks again for the nice comments. Moluccans are one of my favorite snakes and I look forward to raising this girl up and seeing if I can produce some.
