Just as the title ask , i have a 8 tier open back wood and pegboard rack for my collection and was wondering what do you guys recommend? Seen rancos and Johnson for sale pre wired with a 6 input cord , obviously wont do , should i buy a bare one and install a 8 input cord myself?? sorry for the noob question but since i am expanding my collection all the help i get is very much appreciated.

I've got helix's on my big racks but I think, if I could go back I'd probably go with herpstats instead, they're just so much easier to control and really easy to read. I'm using rancos on all my cages and my baby racks and they work great, you really can't kill those things

Wiring isn't difficult so if you are comfortable then go for it, they are all good and the only one I don't have anymore is a helix

We use Herpstats and Helix, but prefer the Herpstats. As we eventually switch our racks to all Animal Plastics, we are going to switch to all Herpstats.

We use Eco Zone, Helix, Ranco, and Johnson in that order. Going to be switching over to all eco zone over the next year.

No doubt, Herpstats! i have a Helix for my rack but they bore me if that makes any sense.
the Herpstats have more options then most people will ever use.

ended up getting a ranco at the pomona show guys , thx for all the tips. one last question , how do u set the probe?? as in where in your rack, attached?? ect?

Im sure you got this figured out by now but if not hope this helps you....
I usually leave a tub in the middle of the rack open and run my probe in there. Tape it down with heat foil tape and also run my temp guage probe in there as well. That way nothing comes in contact with the probes and you get an accurate reading inside your tubs.
I have also seenpeople use a broken square of a tub and put that over the heat tape and then the probe on top of that. I really prefer the open tub method as long as I have the space.

Some people go straight toward the finish line and other take a different path only to cross the finish line at the same time...you won't be disappointed with your pick up.

Reptile Basics is coming out with three new thermostat models that will really shake up the market. I believe the first model (fancy pants one) is available at their site now...

I am considering purchasing a herpstat myself. I need to heat 3 racks, each contain 8 tubs. They all house ball pythons. Which model would best suit my needs?

Thank you!
