Awwww, there's some of my favorite pretties! All beautiful man, thank you for posting these up!
Jlassiter 01-04-2011, 11:24 PM Thanks Sara....and you are welcome!
I used to have many alterna.......I swore I wouldn't get addicted to them again, but now I have 3.3 of them and am looking at some more for the future.....
1.1 of those Black Gaps are 100% Het for Hypomelanism and possible het for Anery........So they may throw some ghosts in the future if the Anery gene pans out....
Well now, 3.3 isn't an addiction YET.. and besides, they are relatively small, so you could easily do like 20.33 without an addiction problem.. unlike, say, retics. Yeah. See, no problem!
I hope those black gaps work out for you, I'm trying to visualize and think those would be really pretty!
Jlassiter 01-04-2011, 11:34 PM I already have 130+ snakes so any more would be considered an addiction.....LOL
And....There have been Hypo, Anery, Hypo-E, Ghost and Leucistic Alterna hatched already......
Look for pics by Mike Russo, Dan Johnson and Chris Baubel.......

Yeah, but I was just talking alterna, lmao!!!
I'll search around to see em, Not something I've even thought about until you brought it up.
Jlassiter 01-04-2011, 11:52 PM Just Google Dan Johnson alterna.....You'll find the massive data base website with all the cool Black Gaps.....
That made it easy, thank you!
Jlassiter 01-05-2011, 12:19 AM No problem....
Dan had some great alterna and was dedicated to them for a very long time.......
Dan W 01-05-2011, 06:27 AM Very nice grey-bands.

With 130 you're still safe. But an addiction is ok. You've got a support group of addicts right here!
Although we probably aren't going to help 'cure' the addiction.

True......LMAO!!!!!
norsmis 01-05-2011, 06:58 PM Loving the alterna bro! Used to catc ha few on trips out west as a kid growing up in Texas. Of course mom and pops werent having them in the car on the way home so I always had to release them....
asplundii 01-05-2011, 08:38 PM I really like that first Gap, real sharp looking.
Jlassiter 01-05-2011, 08:55 PM Thanks Ron and Asplundii......
skm0308 01-06-2011, 09:26 AM Nice group John. How is having to mess with the Dealers Nongame license? Is there lots of tracking and paperwork? I've got a pair and would like to eventually breed, unless I'm spending more time filling out paperwork than working with the snakes.
Jlassiter 01-06-2011, 10:40 AM It's not that big of deal......I have THE limit. If I want more than 6 I will have to get the Nongame Dealer permit then it becomes a hassle......
Thanks for the compliment Steven.....

Actually Alterna is on the White List so you can own up to 25 of them. The problem that I foresee is you can't sell them without the Dealer's permit unless you sell them to someone who has the Dealer's permit, which most aren't going to have.
Jlassiter 01-06-2011, 05:28 PM You are right....25.....
Currently, anyone who possesses more than 25 specimens in the aggregate of any animal on the list must have a nongame (collector’s) permit, which costs $18 for Texas residents and $60 for non-residents. Commercial operators who buy and resell listed animals must have a nongame dealer’s permit, which costs $60 for residents and $240 for non-residents.
Nongame permit holders must maintain a daily log showing the date, location, and number of specimens collected or sold. Nongame dealer's permit holders must maintain a current daily record of all purchases and sales, and they are required to submit an annual report summarizing their activities to TPWD.
So just to have 6 I do not have to have a non-game dealer's permit (but I do).
I paid the $60 but I think I need to purchase another.....lol
To purchase any or to sell any you must have it......I have a log of the three purchases I made (1.1 ea), but have not turned it in.....I'll have to check on that too....
I was confused on the number of specimens that can be in possesion without the permit.
But it makes no difference if you are buying or selling alterna........
Thanks.....
No wonder I keep alot of Mexicana and Montane snakes instead of alterna........LOL
Jlassiter 01-06-2011, 05:31 PM I wonder if folks that have alterna out of Texas can breed and sell them to others in the same state without any type of permit?
But if the buyer is from Texas then the buyer needs the Non Game Dealer's permit....Not the seller????
Jlassiter 01-06-2011, 05:42 PM So....actually with my Dealer's permit I can sell to anyone, but if I collect a wild alterna I cannot sell it unless the buyer has the Dealer's permit as well........
DEALER'S NONGAME - A person possessing a dealer's non-game permit may sell non-game wildlife to anyone. NEW REGULATION - No person may collect non-game wildlife and subsequently treat it to create a processed product for sale, offer for sale, exchange or barter unless that person possesses a valid dealer's non-game permit.
Bigtattoo 01-06-2011, 05:54 PM Real nice group of greybands John of course I would expect nothing less from you. LOL
That speckled BG is real sweet but I like the pair of HD's best. Classics.
Jlassiter 01-06-2011, 05:58 PM Yep...The Howard Draw pair are Classic Blairs produced by Stu Tennyson........
Still lizard feeders though........Soon they will switch over to mice.......
skm0308 01-06-2011, 07:33 PM Okay so you have a Dealer's license, do you have to keep any paperwork for the animals you sell? I read that you have to email TPWD if you import or export any nongame animal within 24 hours. Also if you have a Dealer's license you can keep any amount you like. I guess I need to call and get the gist of it all.
I wonder if folks that have alterna out of Texas can breed and sell them to others in the same state without any type of permit?
We've bought and sold here and no permitting required. I'd assume it's because they are native there.:dunno:
