These are our first boa's, and I have to say they are a very interesting lot! My colubrids and my BP's all seem very head shy. Even when I gently try and scratch their chins they pull back ect., but not these boa's ! In fact they seem to actually enjoy it, the harder the better! They stretch their neck out a little as if to say "Go here a little ". They really do have a personality that is distinctly different from other types of snakes. Have you guys found the same when comparing your boa's to the rest of your collection?

It seems there is a little more intelligence in their eyes than my other snakes. My boas watch me constantly when I am in the room and follow my every move. Even when I hold them they seem to be more alert of what I am doing.

My old boa would watch me as well.Almost as if he was trying to learn what I was doing..lol..I miss having boa's..He wasn't head shy either..
Most of mine enjoy the chin rubbing too.. it's cute.

Yes, I had a few that really went for the ol' chin rub as well. They did just like you said and moved forward and even pressed down more to receive more pressure from the scratching....:lmao:

I've noticed this with my female carpets also.

When I first got all of them it was more of "repel all boarders" mentality. The girls have always lived together before me and still do. They get gently removed to feeding tubs and I believe are making the association of me handling them with getting food so are not as defensive. Probably anthropomorphizing but I see the same with many of my Pits. Now on non feeding days I can look in on them and they are very calm and enjoy a little attention much like a kitten.
The male gets fed in his enclosure. I can reach in and pick him up. But not a good idea to go mucking about in his cage when food is even in the same room. LOL He's not a head scratcher either but will just hang out when I get him out.
