Would anyone here think that a cage 24x12x12 would be OK for an adult BP?
I always thought the minimum in a cage size was equivalent to a 20 gallon long tank which is 30x12x12.
What are your thoughts?

that's a bit small (narrow), height isn't much of a concern with BP's but a coiled adult is about a foot in diameter give or take. Just seems a bit too little.

A 20L might would work for a smaller adult male.

I have a 20L tank I'm using for my juvenile bearded and it's 32 or 34 long I "Think" so don't hold me to my word. A 24 inch long cage sounds more like a standard 20 or a 10L or something.

Yeah, I think the 12" would be a bit small if you are talking about a female for sure.

That's wha I thought. I am looking to replace the racks with cages and figured I would need something 35 to 36 inches long and 15 to 18 inches deep but then was told that was overkill and a 24x12 is fine. :dunno:

I think you are the first person I have ever met that has gone from racks to cages! :)

Agreed...

I don't think 35-36 would be overkill, and 12" wide wouldn't be too terribly small. Think about all the breeders using 41 qt tubs. They are only 10-12"W and about 30 some inches long. I'm not totally sure on those measurements because I use 32qt tubs in my ball racks, several other breeders do too.

It also matters what your purpose for the cage/tank will be. If you just want to keep your balls effectively go smaller. If you want a decked out vivarium, go as big as you want.
