I have decided that I am LOVING the locality dwarf boa's. So much so, that at White Plains I had a conversation with Mr. Russo about a certain hog boy that my daughter has, needing a girlfriend............by the end of the week:eek:. Yea I have been bitten by the boa bug! Bigtime.:wamma:
Anyway, I am also liking the Tarahumara's and I am thinking of adding a pair in a few months or so. How do they compare to the hogs as far as temperament and such? Do they also have that inquisitive temperament like the hogs or are they more aggressive ect. ect. Tell me your opinions, and pictures would be great.
Thanks,
Mike Kelly

we had tarahumaras several years back, got them directly from gus renfro. they are a very cool boa. naturally i believe them to be smaller than hog island boas. i wouldn't say they are more aggressive, they just have more spunk. napoleon syndrome heh very easy to keep and they have GREAT colors and contrast! they are true beauties. i would suggest them to any boa enthusiast (especially locality). you will enjoy them for sure :)

Our Tarahumaras are my favorite of all my locality Boas. Great temperament, much easier to handle than my Cay Caulker or Corn Islands. Ours are breeding now and looking promising. Maybe I will be able to satisfy that order in a couple months.

And they are the smallest of all the Boa Constrictors.

We won't necessarily need to meet at Tinley. My nephew lives in Long Island, and I've been wanting to check out your show up there.

you'd be better off hitting whiteplains than the LI show.
whiteplains is an hour from LI, and a much better show.
'course, we'll meet you at the LI show if you really want to.
let us know when and if shawn, we'll hook up.

Okay then, thanks for the info. I've been to the White Plains show a couple times. I was just interested to see how the LI show was in comparison. I'll take your word for it though and stick to WP if there is that much of a size difference. We could always split the difference and meet at Hamburg, that's about 4 1/2-5 hours for me. I always hit the Cabela's store when Im there as well.

Better late than never..As adults they are timid creatures and will hide their head and hiss like all git up when agitated..I sometimes did this on purpose..
They are as Shawn stated the smallest of the mainland boas and smaller than many of the insulars..IF pure there will be NO holes in the very large head spear/ spade in their case..The head spade will often have lateral projections to the eyes, it will also carry what looks to be a metallic gold blushing to it..Often there will be 2/ a gold line onon each side of the crossbars/saddles giving the animals 2 gold racing stripes..Bellies are pumpkin orange and often this color creeps into the sides for a more colorful animal..Ours came from the SD musuem courtousy of Dr neil Ford..We were the 1st to breed this locale and we LOVE'EM..
