Sorry, no pics. Took her all of five hours to consume the wole thing too . How long should a meal that size last a T? Just curious.

She's been eating a lot lately. I've been droppin' three large crickets in every two or three days and she's been consumin' em like that for three weeks now. Should I just continue to feed her what she'll eat or should I back off for any reason. I can't imagine a T becoming obese but might there be other things to be concerned about?

Roger that Jeremy. The boy just had to see it eat one after a friend of his fed theirs one. I'm sure in the wild, if they came across one, they'd eat it so wasn't real concerned as a one time thing. It was just really to big and took her forever to eat it. She'll probably have heartburn for weeks now.

Tarantulas store fat in the abdomen, so the size of T's rump is directly depandant on how well fed it is or isn't. But that type of meal you are easily looking 3weeks easy for it to go without any difficulty.

There are some that don't know when to stop eating...being opportunistic they will grab as many as they can while the prey is available to catch.

So, then there is a little regulation involved on my part. I guess I'll back off feeding her so much then. I've no intention of breeding her, but then I don't want a couch potato spider either

Thanks all.

Blaming it on the kid huh? :lmao: I honestly didn't know they could eat pinks, but like Ron I don't want to know.

Little bit, LOL....they will stop eventually but yeah they don't "need" to fed quite that often. the pinky mouse thing is fairly common though a lot of breeders use pinkies to put weight on breeding females fast....works well. Usually a half dozen crickets couple times a week suits them well though just as normal feeding type schedule.

That's about what I've been feeding her, but just three at a time every couple days. I'm not big on the idea of prey items running amuk in a 10 gallon tank. But then, I suppose when a T stresses to much it lashes out at whatever's within reach :D

I've given my Ts the occasional small pinky, but I kept the big boys, Goliath Birdeater, King Baboon, etc.

Sounds like you've got it!
Yeah I had a large female that would have cricket-ka-bops on her fangs she'd just keep stabbing and would end up with 2 or 3 on each fang then into her hide to munch. LOL
