With Larry talking about his Leopard Geckos on RR, he got me hooked on them and I bought a few yesterday.

1.)1 male Green Reverse Stripe het. Raptor, a
2.)1 female Tangerine Jungle het. Raptor, and a
3.)1 female Super Hypo Tangerine poss. het. Tremper Albino

My question is, how are the Tangerine, Hypo and Reverse striped genes passed on?Are they linebred traits, simple recessive or co-dom?

Cheers!

Hey Dave congrats on the pick up. You will enjoy them they are lots of fun :D

Tangerines are selectively bred, not genetic

Hypos are selectively bred, not genetic

Jungles are selectively bred. The reverse stripe is a form of the jungle morph. The stripe is considered by most to be selectively bred although some think it acts like a recessive trait.

Cool, that makes things a whole lot easier!

So, I guess my last question is, what is/makes a "super hypo"?

A super hypo is just a term to describe a leo that lacks any spots on its body. If you go a step further a "baldy" lacks spots on its head. Most if not all baldies are also super hypos.

Breeding two hypos wont automatically result in a super hypo. It may, but it depends on the quality of the animals and their lineage. Its not like breeding two pastels will give you a super pastel with good odds, ya know what I mean? Hypo in leos in different than in snakes.
