View Full Version : A Little Rainy Day Incest...
BILL BUCHMAN 12-22-2008, 05:22 PM ... I think???
Pictured is a captive hatched male that produced 6 clutches last season -- including a combo. He is breeding a female he was imported with, and is thought to be his sister. She looks like him and his offspring and is the right age - 05). Of course, I am raising his female offspring to breed back to him down the road. He is the larger one in the foreground (2000 grams)-- he is a beast of a breeder!:master: The girl is in the background -- hiding her head in shame! :nono:
They are most certainly codom. She is 1400 grams. I am hoping she gives me the clutch size to hit the odds on the super. I have no idea what the super will look like except in person they have a satin finish and what I would refer to as a "depth" to their appearance. I would not mind a black version of the Paintball! :wamma: I have kept this one under wraps and have not shown them before. They have name -- a great one I think  -- which ties in nicely to the super. I am stoked about this pairing!!!! Thanks for looking.

medicineman410 12-22-2008, 09:17 PM Bill those are some good looking snakes. Noah, what are your plans for yours? She is a looker also. I am a sucker for those dark snakes.
FloridaHogs 12-22-2008, 09:19 PM Thanks Albey, I wanted to ask that myself.

I have a male from the same clutch. I am going to breed him to some females next year and when she is big enough bred them to see if there is a super. Its uncanny how much she looks like Bills pair there. Its really cool to see some just like that and larger. Cant wait to see what happens with his clutch.
Great lookin Snakes Bill

Rapture 12-22-2008, 10:38 PM Those are really nice. Hope they are of the same gene and there is a super, and that she lays an egg with one inside. :)
BILL BUCHMAN 12-22-2008, 10:43 PM Hey Bill, it looks very interesting. What do you think you have there?
I am not sure Albey -- YET! The back story is kind of interesting. This male sired my first clutch EVER and my only clutch of 07. I had ZERO IDEA WHAT I WAS DOING!!! Thinking back he maybe had 2 locks with a big normal female in like May??? She laid 10 perfect , fluffy eggs -- no slugs (still my biggest clutch to date) that hatched Sept. 24th 07. 3.3 morphs and 2.2 normals. The prettiest male morph had some egg stress and a "tweaked jaw set" -- he did not make it in the long run. I just KNEW the male was genetic and would prove before I bred him.
Many people seem to have "Black Granite" type animals they plan on breeding. If I am honest, I don't see my animals when I look at them. In person, they have a "velvety" quality to them. They have a color and pattern quality that is I feel is unique. I would encourage those with dark animals to roll the dice and breed them for sure!!!
I know Ralph Davis has hatched some stuff over the last couple years -- in 05 and 07 I believe. From what I can infer from his birthing page the 07 clutch is a result of a mother/son breeding. His founding animals a much different than mine from what I can see -- lighter and less busy pattern.
I have seen similar melanistic pattern morphs, proven and unproven, go by a few names... Tracy has an Uber in her book, Amir was working with what he called a Graphite, and Ralph's Black Granite. I am sure there are others. I don't know what is going on with those. I know Ralph is excited about his. He is likely doing something cool with it. I have dozen or so growing up and I am breeding daddy to a couple normals this season.
The name you ask Grunt is ... Reaper (dark color and sickle pattern -- seeded to make sense --plus it is cool). 3 dancing bananas goes to the first to post the super name -- it is not to difficult -- so don't think too hard -- sort of obvious. I have no idea what to expect from a super, but I think there will be one. :yessir:
FloridaHogs 12-22-2008, 10:45 PM Grim reaper?
janeothejungle 12-22-2008, 10:49 PM Very nice pairing. Congrats, hope something great comes of it.
Cheers,

WINNER!!! Jenea :yourock: I told you it was easy.
JChandler 12-22-2008, 10:59 PM Congrats and good luck
NoahHart 12-22-2008, 11:02 PM Thats cool Bill. What will be interesting is to see if any of these "Granite" type animals are compatible. I also think they do look different from RDRs but they have some very similar markings. Do you have any pics of the younger ones your growing up?

I'll snap some fresh ones Tuesday --outside if possible -- and post them. I'll try and do a group shot with some Reaper offspring from various clutches.

NoahHart 12-23-2008, 07:21 PM Thanks for posting the pics Bill. This is not meant to be negative so please dont take it that way but the babies patterns dont look nearly as intense as the adults. They are very cool and I hope you hit the super this season. They do have some very similar characteristics to RDRs "Granites" with the "dog bones" on the dorsal and the side patterning. They also look very similar to David Fernandez line of "Granites". I asked RDR to post an updated pic of some of his Granites on his site but I doubt it will happen. Would be nice to see them as they get older though to see whats happening with the color. What was the combo you made if you dont mind me asking. Oh and by the way I love the name too.
NoahHart 12-23-2008, 07:25 PM The pics of the adults is gone from your first post too. ?????
constrictorkeeper 12-23-2008, 08:42 PM good luck with your project bro !
