View Full Version : ATTENTION Venemoid owners!!
Steven_Kelley 12-22-2008, 11:38 PM I stumbled upon this video by accident and thought I would share with with anyone I could to hopefully spread some awareness as well as possibly even help save someones life...
This is a video made by the Kentucky Reptile Zoo milking confiscated Venemoid cobras... Of course the whole idea of owning a Venemoid is to be able to own a venemous snake without having to worry about the risk of an injury or dying if bit...
Just watch this video...

xanaxez 12-22-2008, 11:42 PM i saw them videos before, from my gathering they were improperly done so the glands still produced venom.

Either way I would never trust a venemoid (Especially after those vids) nor do I believe in the practice...
FloridaHogs 12-22-2008, 11:45 PM Yeah, just saw them recently, they were also talked about on one of the rr shows.

Once a hot, always a hot.
xanaxez 12-22-2008, 11:54 PM venomoid or not all should be handled and respected as if its hot
Steven_Kelley 12-22-2008, 11:55 PM Well what's crazy is seeing pics of people holding big cobras and other hots and under the caption... don't worry it's a venemoid...
I don't care how cool of a pic it might be to have... you would never catch me free handling any HOT!
Venemoid or not!
xanaxez 12-23-2008, 12:04 AM true but you know got caught for claiming to be snake charmers and such saying the snakes were venomous but later found out they actually had the snakes teeth and glands removed.
earthpig23 12-23-2008, 12:07 AM yeah just another reason i am not a fan of venomoids! thats a scary thought
Southern Wolf 12-23-2008, 12:11 AM Venomoids are for wusses that only want the snake to show off.

i agree, if you want something so exotic and deadly then you should keep it natural, dont alter its way of life and habitat with surgery just to show off. id rather have a hot than a venomoid any day.
Southern Wolf 12-23-2008, 01:15 AM me too... and thus I do
AaronP 12-23-2008, 01:21 AM Venemonoid or not you should treat it like it can kill you in an instant...and respect it as such.
147BOAS 12-23-2008, 02:55 AM venemoids
people should not own them its bad all the way around:nono:
JChandler 12-23-2008, 07:39 AM I agree with people not creating venemoid's just for show and tell reasons but I would never say that someone shouldn't own something....
constrictorkeeper 12-23-2008, 09:20 AM i think phil has a personal venomoid tale he might be willing to share on here, if my polluted memory serves me correctly...
can we get a chime in from the award winning member ?

luciddream 12-23-2008, 11:11 AM I don't believe that the venomoid surgery should ever be done, however, I will not tell people what they can and can't do. But, I think it is important that people know that if they don't get it done by a qualified vet it is very likely that it won't be properly done and that the venom glands and canals can regrow or reconnect. Even if done by a qualified vet, it is still important to test them every couple of months and work with it as if it were still a hot.
