View Full Version : Something different

This little girl almost got dead at birth, from mom squashing her a good one. She was a problem for the next couple months, needing me to give her sub-Q fluids for her serious none shedding problem, and tube feeding her to keep her alive. So she was titled Serendipity. :)

She's ready for a turd, so forgive her poofy rear end. Sorta cloudy too, so the light was inconsistent, but you get the idea I'm sure...

If you go by Ronne's whole eye theory, then she likely got an albino gene from her father. That's why her eyes contrast her head so much. I think. LOL

She was the most insane looking of her 13 reverse striped siblings. I'm hoping it's reproducible, cuz a Sunglow like that would just be sweet as hell. But even if it don't pass on, it'll be fun trying.

Thanks for all the nice replies. Maybe i can get a couple shots of some of the others over the weekend, and add them to the thread.

Thanks again!

She was certainly worth the work. What is she exactly?

She's a Boa Constrictor, geeze.

Moms just a big old Colombian ?? and dad's a Salmon het for Coral Albino. So I guess that puts her in the not so Common Boa category.

Seriously though, Mom was a classroom animal that got too big, and I ended up with her. I know nothing of her past. She's got some reverse stripe happening too, but nothing like this girl, or some of her siblings. 14 out of 35 had reverse stripes, equal to, or greater then moms. There's a few signs that say I may be making more of these, but we'll have to wait and see what happens. I moved mom to another cage, changed her environment for a year, and we'll see if it happens again next time.

Thanks again for the comps!

In case she's worried , let her know her sisters here are doing really well.

For about 10 minutes when I was looking at the post shed pics in chat that night , I really , REALLY , considered guilting you out of this girl but you being a friend and all, I just couldn't do it.

I take it Mayhem adjusted then? Not that I had any doubts.

Guilting me? HA HA HA HA HA Yeah right. You need a conscience for that stuff to work. :nono::nono: My mind is more like a well tuned machine.

She's BCI to the best of my knowledge. Not sure of moms history, except she got too big for the classroom, but she don't give me reason to believe she's a cross. Dad's a Salmon Het for Coral Albino...

One of the wildest looking boas Ive ever seen. Glad she pulled through.

Of course the tail is the first thing that hits you in the face like an iron fist but I also like how clean she is and her reduced pattern.

I might have answered the PM, but the mail system is working sporadically. Now that i know though, LOL

She gets cleaner with each shed too. She was some muddied up as a new born, and a whole lot has just faded away. I was thinking for a while, it's like she tried to be a Salmon, but mom's genes over rode things, because she was just so funky looking at a month or two old.

She looks pretty damn wicked now though. She's becoming one of my favorites, though I wasn't supposed to have any more of those. LOL

Thanks again for all the comps! And Merry Christmas to all of you!

Pffft. Then you are missing out. Boas are neat, and have way more personality then those girlie little BP's have. :lmao:

Here's a more recent one, probably 5 months ago. Need to get updates soon.

Thanks for all the comps! She's without a doubt one of my neatest critters. Not to mention a ham for attention. She loves to be handled, or seemingly anyway.

She'll be shedding soon, so weather permitted, maybe I can get some updated pics of her.

Thanks again!

Wow !! Thats an awesome looking boa. WELL worth the extra work you put in to help her survive. I Love that striped tail and the clean pattern. Too bad theres no drool smiley .. I'm certain many would have been used on this one.

I assume you're keeping her but selling some of the siblings ?

SublimeBoa
12-08-2009, 05:46 PM
Yep, keeping her for sure.

And her...

http://www.sublimeboa.com/Content/Photos/Marge/03-15-09/DSC_0580.JPG

And Him...

http://www.sublimeboa.com/Content/Photos/Dude/03-15-09/DSC_0561.JPG

A few select siblings went to trusted friends to help me prove or disprove the trait with unrelated animals. If it proves, then I get offspring of choice, and they keep the F1 animal regardless.

The rest were sold or given away. Lots of nice animals in that litter, not just the striped ones.

Thanks for the comps!

Glad she made it, she is a looker for sure as are the others you are keeping from the litter!!!!

Awesome Boas all around!!!
