In ball pythons you often see a "glow" when your females working hard on some follicular growth In my experience the the ones with the obvious glow have always gone on to ovulate. Here is a glowing female of mine-

But what about the ones that go the opposite rout? I have a few females that each year breed a few times then get extremely dark and remain that way through about a month or two after laying. Even their ventral scales get black. Here is one of my girls who a few months ago was a classic light golden brown-

Sorry but I dont have comparison pic of her pre breeding season.
I was just wondering if any one has any take on the girls who get darker rather than lighter.
