View Full Version : Canary color change
NoahHart 12-24-2008, 01:16 PM Just thought I would post some pics of this girls adult color change. I got her almost 5 years ago. She was solid yellow until she hit about 900 grams. Then she started to change. Wish she stayed yellow but you cant win em all. She is the last of my collection I have left. Here are the pics.

NoahHart 12-24-2008, 02:25 PM Thanks guys. I had about 15 chondros at one point, including some high dollar stuff and decided to get out of them. They take up to much room for the place im in now. I just have this one girl left and im trading her to a friend for some ball morphs. Ill always love chondros though.
AaronP 12-24-2008, 02:40 PM She's beautiful :)
Rapture 12-24-2008, 02:40 PM Interesting to see an animal that big go through its color change. Weird how the head was pretty yellow as the body turned more green. Thanks for posting, too bad she didn't hold onto that yellow body.

Yea this locality is a mystery still. Will be interesting to see what happens with all the cb babies from the last couple years from yellow adults.

JChandler 12-24-2008, 05:47 PM Noah I know next to nothing about them but could it be associated with a hormonal change with the color since it took so long?
Buckskin 12-24-2008, 05:52 PM Noah, she looks good . I had a girlfriend that gave me that same look right before we broke up. lol

With this locality they seem to have all sorts of changes including back and forth from green to more yellow. Some of the adults that were first imported were solid yellow so people are trying to reproduce that. Very few of the adults have stayed really bright yellow. Some localities take longer than others to change, like Biaks can take 4 years to change and I have had other localities change literally over night. It could be some hormonal change I guess. It did coincide with the start of breeding season but she hadnt been cooled yet. So im really not sure what happened.
Southern Wolf 12-24-2008, 08:27 PM I like the idea of the color progression shots.... that was interesting.
Gotta say, I'm loving the blue!

Naples9 01-03-2009, 07:27 PM She's looking good even at Green/Blue....Who the heck knows, if she goes hormonal she could change back overnight! Good Luck w/ her!

Thanks Mark. I dont think any Canaries have changed back to solid yellow during hormonal change but that would be sweet.
